### **--- "Lacking Support for Non-Theists/Atheists"
I heard about this app and its AI features on the SMART Recovery podcast.

I was quite disappointed to see that the app is so deeply and exclusively rooted in the 12 step process which, as an atheist and anti-theist, I find to be too tainted by religion.

I hope that the app will continue to improve and evolve to be inclusive of atheists and integrate completely non-secular and scientifically valid principles and programs such as SMART Recovery. 

As a survivor of religious trauma and someone who is also on a journey of sobriety, this app and its AI assistance create the potential for this to be an invaluable tool, but it’s just not there yet.

I was skeptical about the ability of an app to keep me on the straight and narrow, especially after so many failed attempts… but I’ve been really surprised at how helpful it’s been at keeping me committed and accountable. I also love the fact that, despite the name, it doesn’t just offer the 12-step approach, which is not for everyone (including me). There’s also CBT and MAT stuff, and you can experiment with different kinds of treatment or combine them based on what works for you.

I chose this app because it was free! To my astonishment, it is the best tool I have ever used. I started my steps again having been through them before both in AA and OA, while I’ve been in other 12 step programs, these two emphasized doing the steps for recovery.  The thoroughness of Kai in working the steps has me seeking deeper into my recovery process than ever before. I also find the 10th step daily inventory of special help the way it has been put together. I have not yet explored the sharing process within the app, but plan to expand into using it. Thanks.

I’m writing because I have spent my entire morning conversing with Kai, the AI sponsor. I had a slip last night and usually I’d spend my morning wallowing in self pity. This time I told him what I did and he started replying. I’ve never used AI chatbots before, always found it a bit strange. This one has been so helpful to get me to really think and consider the nuances of my own situation and thought life along with my faith and trying to figure out a plan of action and more importantly HOW to follow through. I’m absolutely blown away by this app and I wish I had had something like this decades ago. Invaluable. Thank you so much. 
(Small feature requests would be a night/dark mode and I liked the old icon with the stairway.)
Edit to add: I have been working with Kai all day and have gotten so much value from it. Please let me give you some money for this app, a tip jar. I can’t tell you how much this is helping me.
