Great app easy to use
Great app, poor battery management
I tried Orca on my last trip from Elba to Alghero. The app performed really well and has a wealth of information. The only downside, and it’s a big one, is that it zaps your battery. On my iPhone 12 mini I could only use it for a few hours and then I had to plug it back into a spare battery. If they can fix this I would wholeheartedly recommend Orca, but as it stands I prefer Navionics purely because I can use it all day without depleting my battery.

Try as I might I cannot get this to easily plot a course. Unimpressed
Clunky
Not great. Pretty slow even on my iPhone 13 Pro
App won’t work
App won’t work with iPad mini running iOS 12.5.7. It just hangs after the first screen
Hangs
Won’t run on my iPad. Just hangs at the startup screen with orca logo. Disappointing.
Don’t bother with this app it doesn’t even work
Download as this seamed like what I was after Couldn’t even get the demo to run A complete waste of time
Poor communication
Downloaded this app because it seemed to be just what I was looking for. Even better that Orca also offer the Core which is also the kind of nav hardware I need. The disappointment came when I took my iPad out to sea to try the app. Even though tethered with 3 bars of 4G Orca just didn’t work. I used the in-app chat to ask why it wasn’t working and if there was any key for the symbols (standard with a paper chart and essential for someone like me who is new to sailing). I got no reply and they just keep sending spam emails. A shame for Orca because I would have bought the Core for £399 but I have absolutely no confidence that I will get any support, should I need it down the line. 3 stars because the charts and course plotter is great, 2 stars off for poor communication Update: The Orca team did actually get back to me after the weekend. 3 stars seems a bit harsh now but I’m still no fan of chatbots or spam
