Da wir an einer neuen Orthoptera-App arbeiten, wird diese Version nicht mehr weiterentwickelt. Die neue App wird voraussichtlich im Mai 2026 als eigenständige Anwendung veröffentlicht und erscheint nicht als Update der bestehenden App. Zwar wird die alte Version bis auf weiteres verwendet werden können, jedoch bieten wir dafür keinen Support und keine Updates mehr. Mit „Orthoptera“ – wissenschaftliche Bezeichnung für Heuschrecken – lassen sich 162 Heuschreckenarten in der Schweiz, in Deutschland und in Österreich mit einem intuitiven Bestimmungsschlüssel bestimmen. Die dargestellten Arten werden mit über 5000 Bild-, Ton- und Zeichnungsdokumenten illustriert. Detaillierte Angaben zum Aussehen, Gesang, Lebensraum oder zur Verbreitung ergänzen die Information über die jeweilige Art. Anwender:innen können Kriterien wie beispielsweise Körpergrösse oder Flügellänge frei wählen, auch in Kombination. Dieses Vorgehen vereinfacht die Bestimmung und macht die Anwendung äusserst flexibel. Zudem kann anhand der GPS-Lokalisierung das Artenspektrum automatisch eingegrenzt werden. Die App richtet sich an interessierte Laien genauso, wie an Expertinnen und Experten und ist die ideale Begleitung im Feld. 

Alle Inhalte von Orthoptera sind in deutscher Sprache. Der Bestimmungsteil unterstützt zusätzlich Englisch, Französisch und Italienisch.

Diese App ist für mich die beste ihrer Art. Die diversen Fotos und Stimmenaufnahmen sind exzellent. Der Text ist ausführlich und verfügt auch über eine Verbreitungskarte für CH und D.. Wunderbar die Möglichkeiten Favoriten abzuspeichern, sowie die Suche nach Bestimmungsschlüssel. Einzig die Arten nach aktuellen Ort anzugeben funktioniert nicht immer. Sonst läuft die App schnell und zuverlässig; keine Abstürze. Ich wünsche mir eine Libellen-App in gleicher Qualität.
