## OsmAnd Description
OsmAnd is een app voor offline kaarten en navigatie voor mensen die betrouwbare begeleiding, gedetailleerde kaarten en volledige controle over hun routes willen. Download volledige kaarten per land of regio, zoek op adres, plaats of coördinaten, en navigeer met gesproken begeleiding afslag voor afslag — zelfs zonder internettoegang.

Met OsmAnd kunt u:

· Offline navigeren voor autorijden, fietsen, wandelen, hiken en meer
· Routes plannen met tussenstops en automatische herberekening
· Gedetailleerde kaarten op basis van OpenStreetMap gebruiken met POI’s, Favorieten en aanpasbare overlays
· GPX-tracks weergeven, opnemen, importeren en gebruiken voor navigatie
· Wandel-, hike- en fietspaden verkennen die in de offline kaarten zijn opgenomen
· Hoogtelijnen en reliëfschaduw toevoegen voor beter inzicht in het terrein
· Rijstrookbegeleiding, straatnamen, verwachte aankomsttijd en optionele schermmeldingen ontvangen
· Kaarten op uw apparaat bewaren voor betrouwbaar gebruik thuis, in het buitenland en in afgelegen gebieden

OsmAnd is ontwikkeld voor dagelijkse navigatie, reizen en buitenactiviteiten. Het combineert offline betrouwbaarheid met krachtige routeplanning, gedetailleerde kaartgegevens en geavanceerde hulpmiddelen voor gebruikers die meer willen dan een eenvoudige navigatie-app.

OsmAnd is gebaseerd op OpenStreetMap en wordt ontwikkeld als een open-sourceproject. Het is privacyvriendelijk en geeft u controle over uw gegevens en de toegangsrechten van de app. Kaarten zijn wereldwijd beschikbaar en worden regelmatig bijgewerkt, met optionele updates per uur via de functie Live Updates.

Een zééér fraaie duidelijke en nagenoeg allesomvattende navigatie-app. Geweldig!
Maar. . . . . geen van de functies is beschikbaar voor een Iwatch. Dat is toch wel erg jammer. Op de fiets wil je niet met een Iphone in je handen of wiebelig op je stuur navigeren. Komt die mogelijkheid er nog voor een Iwatch?

### ***** "Prima OpenStreetMap app!"
Voor mij (pakketbezorger) een perfecte manier om de exacte locatie van huisadressen te vinden. Dat is nogal eens moeilijk in landelijke of bosrijke omgevingen. Met OsMand vind je elk huis of schuurtje!

Verder gebruik ik geen enkel andere functie van de app. Persoonlijke keuze ;-)

Al die functies maken echter meteen het nadeel van OsMand: het is een onoverzichtelijke berg van bij elkaar ontwikkelde opties en functies, waardoor de hele app rommelig en onduidelijk is. Instellingen zijn ongelooflijk moeilijk te vinden omdat ze her en der in de hele app verwerkt zijn.

Wens tot verbetering: 'Knijpen om te zoomen' gaat veel te gemakkelijk tegelijk met handmatige kaartrotatie. Bijna elke keer moet ik (na zoomen) op de kompasnaald tikken om 'het noorden boven' te krijgen.
Bij veel andere kaart-apps blijft de oriëntatie veel beter 'vast staan' op Noord boven.

### *---- "Opnieuw berekenen werkt niet"
Sinds een aantal updates geleden werkt het opnieuw betekenen van een fietsroute, als je van je route afwijkt, niet meer. Dit maakt de app nogal zinloos en onbetrouwbaar om te gebruiken.
Op GitHub is te zien dat meerdere mensen hier last van hebben, de ontwikkelaar lijkt alleen geen interesse te hebben om het op te lossen.
