Today I discovered I can’t send photos of my daughter due to a 1gb limitation on files with no way to delete old ones? The only option to upgrade is to speak with a salesperson. It’s never been glitch free. The application at times has trouble signing you in. If you’ve the application running in the background, you’ll receive an error pop up. Receiving Notifications for new messages has been accurate, but it may not load when selecting to view in app. Messaging feature have never worked properly. It’s the most used feature. Messages don’t load at times displaying “no messages”. You’ll have to restart the application. Folders doesn't sort properly, searching feature is not accurate. Overall, if it wasn’t for my ex spouse demanding use of this app. I would cancel my subscription and request a refund. It’s a great concept, but it’s merely beta. I’ve turned on every notification setting, and the only one that ever comes through is the banner, and even then, only if I have opened the app and re-logged in after every update. The app generally works well, but there are occasional frustrations, like losing everything you’ve written when it times out or an incoming call interrupts while writing—especially annoying when working on something lengthy. That said, my biggest complaint is the update to the calendar. The new layout is terrible! It’s confusing because now you have to remember that the color above the date, not below, indicates whose day it is. Plus, the lack of borders around the days makes it very easy to misread the calendar. Also, the app usually notifies me via text when I have an in-app message, but it never adds a badge notification. I’ve adjusted/reset all the settings in both the app and my phone, but it still doesn’t work. As a result, if I read the text notification that says I have a message in the app and forget to check the app right away, there’s no reminder that I have an unread message in the app itself. Additionally, there have been a few times when the app didn’t send a text notification at all. I’ve gotten into the habit of checking the app daily in the morning, which is how I’ve caught missed messages. While the app is a great concept, the lack of reliable app notifications for co-parent communication and the confusing visitation calendar are significant drawbacks. These are two of the most critical pieces to co-parenting, and I feel the current product doesn’t justify its cost. -- ArizonaCharm, 2024-12-06 ### *---- "Buyer beware: Bait and switch Exploitative company" I signed up for Our Family Wizard in 2019 during a difficult separation and divorce, based on the recommendation of my parenting advocate. At the time, the flat-rate pricing seemed fair, and there was only one subscription option, so I agreed to use it as part of our court-ordered communication plan. The app itself feels cheap and outdated, but it served its basic purpose. I didn’t mind the lack of features because the pricing was reasonable, and it met our needs. However, in 2024, I encountered a sudden and frustrating issue that completely changed my opinion of the platform. While trying to attach a simple screenshot of a bank transaction, I was met with an error stating I was out of disk space and needed to upgrade my plan. This came as a complete shock. There was never any prior warning about file limits, nor was this limitation disclosed when I signed up. I’m court-mandated to use this app until my children are 18—another 13 years—and the last thing I expected was to be pressured into paying more money for a service that was supposed to be low-cost and straightforward. I contacted customer support, hoping for a resolution, but their response was appalling. They told me I had no choice but to upgrade my plan and pay more. I explained that I was never notified about storage limits and requested help in freeing up space since users can’t manage files themselves. The support rep refused to remove any files or offer alternatives. Their only solution was to pay more money. This feels like blatant exploitation of a captive audience—parents who are court-ordered to use the app and have no other choice. What started as a low-cost solution has turned into a money grab, with arbitrary limits and no transparency. I feel taken advantage of and deeply regret agreeing to use this platform. If you’re considering Our Family Wizard, I strongly recommend looking for alternatives or avoiding it altogether. This app’s business practices are disappointing, and I wouldn’t wish this experience on anyone. -- Sagandraxan, 2024-12-03 ### *---- "A predatory app designed to separate families, create divides, and generate profit." The absurd cost of this app is seen in the fact that you’re required to subscribe for 1 year or 2. No 6 months or monthly. This is because the developers are here to profit. They are well aware that court orders can and do change, which may eliminate the need for this app. For instance: my own parenting plan no longer requires this to communicate, and neither party has any intention of continuing to use it (in addition to the obscene expense of the pleasure of simply having the app on your phone, if you need notes or anything for the court, prepared to mortgage your home) It has been less than 6 months than the order was issued. Even with a 6 month minimum subscription, OFW still would have made a profit because it wouldn’t have even been used for the entirety of the period. It is a flagrantly predatory cash grab designed as a parenting tool. The good news: The judge that requires we use this app is now under review from the judiciary review in my state because of the predatory and suspicious nature of the recommendation of this app. And others can too. This works in Washington and very likely Texas, given their similar family laws. It will likely work on other states as well: If you feel the required use of this app is unjust, contact the governing body for judiciary review in your state, and request a new judge while citing the recommended use of a predatory application. In my case it helped that neither I nor my counterpart could initially afford the subscription cost, and we each filed a grievance. This App has no business being in this, or any other App Store. I’m frankly astounded Apple even allows it, and is genuinely concerning for long-time Apple users who have come to trust Apple’s judgement. Disclaimer: I do not complain to get my way, I do it for others’ awareness. When I leave a review, whether here or on Google or anywhere else, I do not come back and I do not respond when app developers attempt to make excuses for their abhorrent behavior in hopes of a better rating.
