Unfortunately more and more podcasts are switching completely to hosts such as Apple, Soundcloud, etc and abandoning their open feeds. So you can't listen to them except through a web browser or one of those proprietary apps. Jordan B Peterson and The Privacy Security and OSINT are a couple of examples. Bummer...

New comment: yesterday I realized the volume up/down isn’t working anymore on my Apple Watch 7. Music and Audible still work fine re: volume adjustments. Irritating as the default volume is a tad too loud … hopefully fixed soon. Down to 3 stars for now. 

Older comment: I love this app though do wish there was some support available fr the company (I’ve used Reddit for help)-so just 4 stars.

I love the core functionality, being able to download podcasts and listen to them while on a walk without bringing the iPhone.  The usability has some way to go.  For example why can’t I really manage content on the watch from the phone and yes then have the watch grab the content on its own?

It’s a godsend for users opting for independent use of Apple Watch from iphone, in my case it’s a use on a bike ride. However, the only regret is that remote rewinding ( double push of the button) on a Bluetooth headphone device doesn’t work. I do hope it’s fixed in the next version.

I cannot stress enough how much I like this app. I got an apple watch without LTE to run with and getting podcasts on it was such a nightmare that I nearly returned it.

As a last ditch effort I downloaded this app and it made the apple watch purchase worthwhile. Being able to run without my phone is such a pleasure and if not for this app I would have returned the watch.

I can mark my favorite podcasts
I can download episodes straight from the wifi (not through the phone’s bluetooth)
I easily downlod and delete episodes
It tracks my progress and shows me which ones I have already played. 
It just works.

### **--- "Periodic crashes, pausing between tracks, shoddy developer testing"
Version 4.2.4 

The latest version and possible prior ones will occasionally crash when deleting podcasts. It seems to happen much more often when the library is somewhat filled. It doesn’t seem to occur when there are only a few podcasts downloaded. When launched again, the intended podcasts are removed. But it takes several seconds before the crash occurs where you’re just waiting to relaunch the app knowing the crash will happen. 

What is much more frustrating is that the app pauses every single time between podcasts. Audio will stop after a podcast ends. When the watch is woken up, audio begins to play for a second from the next queued podcast. Then the app automatically pauses once again. Audio will not resume until you hit the play button. This happens every single time. 

The watch wakes up from a tap and not by raising the wrist. I’m not sure what other context I can provide. It’s an Apple Watch 3 with the latest updates installed. I’ll be reinstalling the app to see if it helps. 

Major update version 4.2 non functional

The app crashes whenever you look for new podcasts (not episodes) by searching the podcast catalog. It immediately crashes after searching and displays no results. The app also crashes when trying to view episodes for a specific podcast. Again, the app immediately crashes with no results displayed. Prior to the update, there were few if any issues. Uninstalling and reinstalling the app in the watch did not help. Restarting the watch did not help. Apple Watch 3 Watch OS 7.1 This also happens in the last major Watch OS version prior to 7.1. 

About a week or two after the 4.2 update, a fix was implemented. The release notes stated that it was fixing “older devices”. At the time of the review, this was still a device available for purchase from Apple. These guys need to test their releases better before publishing.
