## Outdoor Afro Description
We are all connected to nature in cultural, spiritual, social, and biological ways. The Outdoor Afro App provides connection between Black nature leaders and nature lovers—and
everyone who loves connecting with people who love nature.
Much more than a trails app, Outdoor Afro lets you discover vetted, local nature spots, trails, and destinations for all of your favorite sports, play, lifestyle, wellness, and exercise activities.
Our mission is to inspire and support Black connection, leadership, and wellness in nature, so we’ve made it easy to find your fit in outdoor activities—on your own or with expert guides
and enthusiasts who share their recommended spots and expertise, lead guided experiences, and become part of your community.

Outdoor Afro rewards its most active users with gear, badges and even old school patches and badges, free and discounted gear and other goodies. Use Outdoor Afro to:
• Join expert-guided adventures and experiences near you
• Discover and navigate new trails, campsites, and other destinations with GPS maps
• Explore fun, safe, vetted spots for any activity—for you, friends, family, and pets
• Follow your favorite guides to get their latest recommended spots—and share your own
• Plan and build adventures and trips of your own
• Connect with people who love the activities/interests you love
• Earn patches and badges—and discounted and free gear and goodies
• Learn from the experts and get certified
• Track your outdoor adventures and time outside
And because we’re committed to strengthening Black connections to nature and protecting the nature spaces you love, you’ll also find:
• Videos and other content about Black pioneers and innovators who’ve “walked the trails" before you
• Civic leaders and organizations that can help preserve and conserve your local public lands, waterways, and wildlife

## Outdoor Afro Reviews in United States

### ***** "Glad that this app exists"
Being able to build community while either at home or on the move is so wonderful. Being able to follow leaders and get notifications when they are hosting events is very helpful to know when there are things happenings near me.
-- Savage-Abs, 2025-09-02

### *---- "No Notifications"
While I am so proud of this app, I miss the Meetup app notifications when new events in my area were posted. This app doesn’t do that so you more than likely you’ll be waitlisted and/or miss an event altogether. I also do not get any notifications when I move from waitlist to attending… and there is no calendar syncing with this app either. It’s a bit of a mess. I hope this can be fixed so that the app is useful otherwise I’d highly suggest moving back to meetup.
-- RiaT, 2025-09-01

### ***-- "Stuck"
The app gets stuck on the description section and won’t let me scroll to the bottom of my post to edit.
-- arkansawblk, 2025-08-03

### *---- "This App FORCES Participants to Leave Reviews"
This app forces you to leave a review after you’ve attended an event. You’re unable to see or sign up to future events unless you leave a review regarding the last event you attended. The choices given during the review process also may not reflect your actual experience.
Outdoor Afro should count themselves lucky that they’re not charging for an actual product, or the FTC would be all over them for forcing participants to leave reviews that may be misleading.
-- Tamptk, 2025-07-20

### ***** "Great App"
One thing I appreciate about this app that most other outdoor apps lack in is the ability to build community around the outdoors.

I can follow outdoor leaders in my area, visit the vetted spots they have recommended, and join them on trips!
-- DCH_85, 2025-07-11

### ***** "Amazing effort!"
Amazing that this organization put the effort in to create an app to better connect with community!! I’m so excited to engage with it and to see a community-based organization pour into themselves this way … especially in the age of tech monopolies and non-consensual data predation from big companies...
While the app is in its early stages, it is an awesome tool and will only evolve to include more seamless features and integration.
-- Ami Nova, 2025-07-11

### ***** "Loving the Flexibility"
I love how I can view so many different options on the app. I know this is the first version, can’t wait to see how it progresses.
-- MOSSC, 2025-07-11

### ***** "Best way to find community outside"
The new Outdoor Afro app is amazing! Easy to use and convenient to find something to do this weekend!
-- DanK2020, 2025-07-11

### ***** "one stop shop!"
Love how much easier it is to sign up for trips through the app! MeetUp was fine but a bit hard to access. The app makes it easy for me to follow my local volunteer leader and keep track of all their upcoming trips. It’s also easy to reach out to them if i have any questions.
-- Michaellaie, 2025-07-11

### ***** "Awesome!"
What a beautiful new way to expand the reach of Outdoor Afro! The app is new and updates are frequently being pushed out. So great to be a part of this growing movement.
