How can I find hiking trails near me?:
Using Outdooractive, you're able to find hiking trails in your local area by opening our app and browsing the map. You'll be able to see hiking trails with a range of distances, difficulties and distance from your location.

The app is pretty good, but could really benefit from having Apple CarPlay integration. When trying to find the start point of a walk, or when supervising walking groups having the OA map on the cars screen would be a massive help. When using OA for turn by turn directions for a motorised route it would also help to see it on a proper screen rather than relying on the phone propped up somewhere (until it falls over)

I often reccie walks and then want to amend the route to suit what I found. Outdoor active has no method for editing an existing plan or route. You simply cannot add or remove points to a route or plan created from an existing track. I have to go to my Garmin app where I can do this simply, easily and intuitively.

Outdoor Active can be quite frustrating:
 * Its search facility is bizarre, and usually prefers street names over town names
 * I can’t seem to go directly to a specific grid reference
 * The app doesn’t work on Vision Pro, despite being listed as compatible (it crashes at launch)

Frustratingly unintuitive. Good to have maps on phone. I like to flick between os and topo maps. However difficult to believe that not all the maps are included in the pro sub. For instance the cycle maps, and several others are extra on top. OA is hard to like but I have years of (Viewranger) investment in the maps. The pro sub is not expensive, but then you don’t seem to get much. On ‘Privacy’, I’m just not sure why you may take my health data. Update: today I enjoyed making a route and following it. Good topo maps. Upgrade to 3*
Update: today dalek voice is telling me ‘going wrong way’ on return walk. Even with sound turned right off. How to turn voice off completely. Maps plans routes tracks kept disappearing maybe 6 or 8 times in 5 hours. Even though downloaded. App detracted from walk, spending time poking phone, not walking. 
Cancelling second free trial.

I use open street maps in ViewRanger lid purchased ordnance survey maps I have poor eyesight and so have to zoom in to read street names. This now can’t be done. Plus my purchases will be gone in a year ViewRanger is a 5 star app. Why not build on it rather than produce something much worse.
