Listen I love the Persona series, and I also do like some gacha games so I was relatively open about playing this game. I will admit I do like the gameplay of P5X I think it translates the gameplay of P5 pretty well to a mobile device and the characters also feel good too. However I do feel as though the game falls behind in many aspects when compared to other gacha games, firstly its super stingy with rewards which makes getting characters and weapons really dang hard, next the story itself feels bland and unoriginal it feels like someone read what the P5 story was and decided to essentially copy and change it without understanding what made it good in the first place, and lastly the game doesn’t run too well on my phone which is an Iphone 15 which I would normally not care about if not for the fact other gacha games like zzz, HSR, and even Genshin run better on the same phone. If you have any interest in the game, go for it its a decent game but I would recommend you spend money on it

### **--- "Unsurprising Gacha Practices"
I have never written a game review before and P5X is by all means a fun Gacha game, but it cannot be enjoyed without leaving a bitter feeling to Global players who have been continued to be blatantly mistreated: reducing rewards compared to other servers, making Trials more difficult despite having less resources (in terms of character options for hitting weaknesses, changes to weaknesses to make scoring harder, and even lessening the rewards for beating a now more difficult version of trials), prolonging the switch of characters on limited to standard banners, and to make the pity system worse on top of it all to further reduce your chances of getting valuable characters, possible dupes, and weapons. All of these changes are negative for the player and with no return of better features or rebalancing the game with its less resources and increased starting difficulty.
I understand the concept of how Gacha games make money and that these changes are unsurprising from a monetary perspective, but when you release a new server for a Gacha game that has shown financial success and instead of trying to match/improve the standard business model, SEGA instead, deviates and changes a proven successful and profitable game to a standard quick cash grab GACHA that could have been more profitable in the long run without the cost of reputation and trying to possibly put in more work/money to please its audience when they start leaving, it is more than dissatisfactory. It’s aggravating. 
I have put some money into the game because I wanted it to succeed, but of course it always leads to a scam, and yes I’m a little bitter about it. So of course, my recommendation is that playing this game is fun and the current changes aren’t necessarily holding anyone back from a crazy difficult end-game or anything, but as these disparities continue between versions of P5X, it will only be felt more and more by the average FTP or light-spender like myself [I have put around ~$40 USD for transparency sake].
It is so upsetting that no company can keep to a standard for Gacha games in the US. Brave Frontier might not have been the best Gacha game, but it is by far the only Gacha experience that hasn’t been majorly negative for the light-spender experience, which is sad if anyone has ever played BF because the game and its servers were discontinued in the US meaning all the money invested into it is gone. Despite this, I have a sneaking suspicion that I’ll have enjoyed my investment with B

When Palace 3 comes out people will see that the writing has improved and changed. The launch is the worst for this game, but everything improves/goes upwards. Unfortunately, the support SEGA has demonstrated for the global release I am inclined to give this game 1* so they fix their mistakes. I love this game and have it on all servers excluding the original mainland China server. Get with the program. Stop marking things up, give out proper rewards….P5X’s other servers are extremely generous, so why aren’t you? You’re killing your game here. It will be EOS before we know it.

All in all, I absolutely love this game. I’ve been watching other people play persona three reload and P5 Royal and stuff and I was so jealous cuz I couldn’t really buy it on my PC (My parents are kinda strict on buying video games idk) but the second I saw this I was like, heck yes. So other than the many crashes (which I think is because of how old ish my iPhone is) I really think this is an amazing game. I would like an English dub in the future though maybe, just so I know every bit of what the characters are saying. But anyways, great job developers, keep working hard on this please, you’re doing great. (Edit: Could you guys make a spin off of P3R pleeeeeease??? I’ve been wondering if you guys were just gonna stick to this or maybe do more spin offs of the other persons games…)

The actual game is so fun as a Persona enjoyer the gameplay cycle is great. I also play HSR and I actually like the gameplay and story in this game better. HOWEVER, SEGA the publisher has absolutely destroyed this game for the global server. How? This is a gacha game meaning you have to obtain characters with a premium currency you can either obtain or purchase. SEGA in the hopes of wanting global server players to spend more money has purposely extremely limited the currency rewards in tons of ways. This includes a lower rate of daily currency then other servers, less events, less time to pull on characters banners. And the most and worst controversial part is there is a standard banner which should include more heros as they are released. These heroes are essentially treated as limited hero’s until 6 months later! These heroes are available immediately in standard after their banner ends in other servers. If you want to play this game dont spend a cent you can enjoy the story without it because SEGA has essentially spit in the global communities face time and time again.

i have a Lot of issues with this game.
its very poorly optimized, my game has crashed i don’t even know how many times and it’s just very slow. 

there’s a ridiculous amount of level gating and leveling up is very slow. there’s basically no soft pity. global has been getting slightly less/worse rewards while at the same time they’re speeding up banners. we have to wait 6 months for standard characters to get added to the standard banner unlike the other servers too…

they artificially increased the difficulty of the velvet trials by giving them only one weakness instead of two like it was originally, which means you need to build more characters. the rewards for the velvet trials and also the synergies are backloaded. the palaces are really big but a bit barren and the puzzles are basically done for you.

the combat is simplified in a lot of ways compared to mainline persona games, the descriptions may fool you at first but you’ll only be doing like 2 abilities per character the whole time and just build stacks. story is ok so far although stakes are pretty much gone and the first villain and the way his arc was handled is rough... it does feel like persona mostly, but the problems i listed are too much to overlook.

There’s clearly an attempt to single out the global players for convenience and greed. The lack of communication that global is getting is unacceptable. It is insulting towards global players to be treated as if we don’t deserve the same treatment because we are “easier to exploit.” The fact that there is no real way to guarantee a featured character on a limited banner before hard pity is NUTS!

It’s a great game with the greediest business model I’ve ever seen for a gotcha game. If you have already downloaded this game, DON’T SPEND MONEY. Let our concerns for this game’s future be heard!

EDIT: Actually, the game isn’t really all that fun. The combat is not at all gratifying, and the palaces are poorly structured, more like a hallway of treasure chests to collect. Not to mention you don’t even explore the whole thing before the boss, so your insensitive to explore the rest is diminished.

The best RPG to come around this year. For those already familiar w/P5 or P5R, this is an absolute must play. It’s a new spin on the same story, and the P5 cast shows up often in gacha. 

Regarding the gacha: You’ll either get the 5* on your first 10 pull, or will have to wait until the full amount of pulls. 

Pay no attention to the 1* reviews. There’s nothing P2W about this game at all. As the game itself tells you: Take Your Time. This game isn’t meant to be rushed.

only the one star reviews talking about global shafting are really the only valid one star reviews. the rest of you have either never played a gacha or just have major skill issue. battery optimization is so good, my phone doesnt immediately give me third degree burns, and i dont experience game breaking lag. but they do need to slow down the schedule pacing of some of these characters. some characters are out for 13 days while others are out for 20+ days. at level 55, im also not scrounging for stuff to do and the chest rewards are generous when your summon is 1500. maintenance rewards are good too. now to spoilers: i played the peakest of peak of the persona franchise (every game including q and q2), and i can still give this story credit for trying new things. the shadows dont look like their counterparts while having elements of inspiration (kamoshidas tongue is kiuchis wings. the traditional style with madarame being an emporor and miyazawa being a samurai.

I recently quit this game after the first arc due to how underwhelming and bad the writing for the first arc’s villain was.

You can’t finish the palace in one go because the game locks you from continuing because you have to be at a specific level in order to keep going. Because of that, I was stuck in a boring loop trying to level up and continue. This happened about 2-3 times.

My only positive is that the art style is nice.

### ***** "Don’t Trust The Game Rating"
As someone who has played gacha games for years now, the 1 star reviews that say that the slightly, and I mean slightly, decreased rewards mean absolutely nothing towards pulling for characters, or the enjoyability of the game. There are so many ways to get the warp currency it’s not even funny. Mementos itself (up until Aiyatsbus’ final floor) gave me enough to pull for Marian’s weapon. That’s 8000 gems. Other ways include events, and in-game achievements, dailies, and doing activities. Other things that I love about this game are the new additions to the soundtrack, which have all been stellar (especially Kiuchi’s boss theme), the palace designs, the story (as limited as it is right now, but it’s still good for how short it is), and the slightly reworked combat. My only real fault with the game is that it tends to crash sometimes, but not often.

TLDR; Game’s great, don’t trust the rating, p2w’s can thrive with ease. If you love Persona you will love this game.
