Paper: Sketch, Draw & Create

Now you have to pay to get the app and even when you get it, it’s unusable because you need a subscription and have to pay even more. What a joke

I’ve been using paper for many many years. It holds notes from 3 grad courses and many other important things. I bought the pro version when it wasn’t subscription based, and I had hoped they would honor what I bought since I’ve been using it for so long. Today I opened the app to work on my first project of the year, and to my surprise, I no longer have access to the tools I use the most. I tried reaching out to support, and there is no way to send the report through the app. It was never perfect, but I watched it get better feature by feature for years. I have showed it to many friends and felt like part of the community. The subscription is unfortunately way too expensive for me, and I can’t believe I’ll have to export all of my notebooks and move to another app.

I updated Paper on one of my iPads today. I was then prompted to subscribe to a $100 annual fee. It used to cost $12 annually. What justifies an 800% increase in price? I reached out to support only to receive a response that was certainly automated, as it did not attempt to answer my questions. To say that this is disappointing is a shocking understatement. I am aware that Bending Spoons acquiring WeTransfer was going to result in some changes, but this hurts. I am not one to downgrade reviews immediately, but seriously, $100 annual subscription?! I have been a happy subscriber for years. I would appreciate some answers. And perhaps some financial leeway for someone who was already a long-established subscriber. I was an early adopter of this amazing program and have lived through all of its growth (I dream of an Apple Pencil sheathed in a carpenter’s pencil like the Paper by 53 stylus). As a teacher who has been at it for well over two decades, I loved Paper dearly, but can confidently say something is desperately wrong now.

Users are unable to type on the pages itself ? If you guys are promoting it for note taking too then I supposed you need to start incorporating note taking features. Users are also unable to copy something from the photos app and paste it directly. It takes too long to sync to icloud. I have been waiting for it to sync with my icloud for more than an hour and I only had 15 pages.

This APP is terrible , freezes and have sent diagnostics many time and they said working on problem, than a form email about not supporting future journals , get another app

This app has reignited my love for drawing. It’s just a pure joy to use.

I’ve been a user of this app since 2020, and it’s awesome! It has great writing utensils, awesome customizability, and a really well set up concept. Or at least, it did. I don’t know if this is because the original company got bought out for more AI trash to saturate the market, or if they just caved to the “Pro and Premium” pressure like everyone else. I was using this app not 1 month ago with no issues, and now almost every single feature is locked behind the Pro paywall. Though the amount isn’t ridiculous as some, when it was a program that was free to use before makes it a lot more underhanded. I never had a Pro subscription and I never will, so if it’s inaccessible, then I guess I’m off to find another app. Really disappointing, because this one is great and I have a lot of use out of it. TLDR; all the Pro features were free before the latest update. Also, Im not a fan of Gen Ai stealing my job as an artist and won’t pay for an app to contribute to that, so.

It’s a great app for sketching down ideas, but beware. There have been a few times where I lost notebooks. Support is of no help. They are quick to initially respond, but take months and months before they throw their hands up and give up finding a solution. I submitted a ticket in August ‘24. No response until January ‘25 with a “we’re sorry. We’re closing the ticket. No solution”. I wish these tech companies would do better by their customers. 👎🏼

MAKE THE PICTURES ADJUSTABLE PLEASE IM BEGGING I WANNA MOVE THE PICTURES AROUND THE PAPER. MAKE THE PICTURES STACKABLE AND MOVEABLE AND MY SOUL IS YOURS TO KEEP

I wrote to the developers weeks ago about how the app just simply stops working every time you use it and other than an initial “we’re looking into it”, I haven’t heard a word and no fixes have been released. I pay for the subscription and I want my money back if it isn’t going to be fixed soon! So you can still draw but then the app will just not allow you to save anything and the exit and other functions stop working. It’s very annoying when you draw for a while, make something you like, and then have to start all over again! Please fix asap!!
