I have ADHd and have difficulty reading words off a page. My job requires a LOT of reading- so, I have been fooling around with TTS apps for a while and they can be very expensive. This has been free and has delivered a better product that is easier for me to set up than competitors, automatically converting only relevant text (I read academic publications, it is pretty good at filtering out citations) It also summarizes figures fairly accurately. There are still a few glitches in the reading but all of the apps I’ve used struggle with that. Your app has been a game changer for me in my comprehension of academically difficult papers! Listening to them and then going back and reading them helps me to internalize the content in a way I’ve never before been able. I learned about this app from looking around Reddit, where one of the developers had posted some info about it. He responded to my questions, and subsequently messaged me to let me know that if I had any issues or suggestions to contact him. A rare personal touch! I tried the same paper on some other top-rated apps (Speechify, Natural Reader, Eleven Reader) and they all garbled the scanned PDF I submitted. The nice thing about Paper2Audio is that the uploaded document is reformatted by their engine to optimize compatibility with their AI reader software and a complete audio file is generated, which can then be downloaded. It’s completely free, no hidden fees! Which situation is hard to come by these days. And the AI voices are top-notch. Again, I think the biggest advantage here is that the AI isn’t just reading the document on the fly, but is reading a document that has been optimized for the app’s engine. The option to switch easily between the original PDF and the transcript is very helpful. With a PDF, the app creates chapters, or sections, automatically. I uploaded a long EPUB document, but unfortunately the chapters didn’t come through. I have confidence that the developers will fix issues like that. A couple suggested areas of improvement: -An option to read footnotes (As it is now, the AI skips them, but does say the number of the footnote, so if you’re paying attention you can then pause, switch to the PDF and read the footnote with your good ol’ fashioned eyes.) -The ability to manually add words to a pronunciation key, so that the app pronounces them how you want.. similar to the onboard iOS Accessibility feature for Spoken Content (this would be VERY helpful for technical documents that have recurring jargon) -Compatibility with Kindle❗️ -Compatibility with words in other languages that appear inline (for instance, Greek words that are written with Greek orthography in an otherwise English-language paper) -I guess with the above point, proper recognition and dictation of biblical citations, but I know that might be kind of niche Thank you!
