## PDX Bus Description
PDX Bus is a free award winning application that displays arrival times for public transport in Portland, Oregon.

PDX Bus won Best in Show at the 2010 CivicApps.org awards.

This app uses the Internet to quickly access TriMet's live tracking data to display arrival times perfectly formatted for the iPhone. It allows you to bookmark frequently used stops, displays recently accessed stops, and gives details for arrivals which are en-route.

You can enter the stop "id" of the stop (as displayed at each stop or station) or you can browse the routes for the stop.

Feature includes:
- Interactive rail maps, showing the MAX, WES and Streetcar stops.
- Embedded maps, showing locations of stops, and when available, the last known position of the bus or train.
- Use GPS to locate nearby stops or rail stations.
- Browse routes and stops, show an entire route on the map.
- Links to TriMet route information.
- Displays Rider Alerts, and Detours.
- A "Nighttime visibility flasher" - a flashing screen that can be used at night so that drivers can see you. TriMet suggests holding up a cell phone to make yourself visible to bus drivers.
- Trip Planning - now you can use the same trip planning feature that is available on TriMet's web site.
- Specially formatted text to work with the iPhone 3GS VoiceOver accessibility feature to speak arrivals.
- QR code reader to read codes at bus stops and stations

Route and arrival data provided by permission of TriMet.

Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.

Note: this free application was developed as a volunteer effort to provide a service for TriMet riders, the developer has no affiliation with TriMet, or Apple. Suggestions and feedback are welcome.

## PDX Bus Reviews in United States

### ***** "Awesome app"
Super specific with lots of details
-- Sam_McBride, 2026-04-16

### ***** ":3"

### *---- "Waste"
Big waste of space. I can go on to trimet.org and get a better service.
-- Downey Lewis, 2026-01-15

### ***** "So Helpful!"
Amazing grassroots app; has saved my bacon and let me accurately plan trips (much better than Maps) countless times. Thank you!
-- j4ym3kn1ght, 2025-12-14

### ***** "Best transit app EVER"
I use this all the time, both to see when my bus is due & to plan trips. It has so many useful features and is so easy to use on the fly. It’s worth more than most apps I pay for! (Thank you to the developers!)
-- Jessica1911, 2025-08-11

### ***** "Reliable"
Used it for more than 7 years, never crashes. If arrivals don’t display it’s always a problem on TriMets end. I use the Locate button and it’s a single press to get arrivals, very simple and fast.
-- TriMetMAXfan4, 2025-08-09

### ***** "Amazing and super customizable"
As someone new to the area and having to rely on multiple PDX apps to get the time table correctly for specific connections that aren’t generated automatically, this app and it’s many customizable options and selections has made mass transit commuting a breeze.

I love having specific stops saved and the ability to have departure alarms and the live tracking with 60s update intervals where you can see where your bus/tram/streetcar is at on the map.
-- Freshairrr, 2025-07-08

### *---- "Fits the service"
An app that’s as useless and unreliable as the transit system that birthed it.
-- OldPortlander, 2025-04-16

### ***** "Thank you!"
I have been regularly using this app since I first downloaded it way back in 2013! Thank you so much to the creator of this! It works so much better than any other transit planning sites or apps.
-- BurritoBetch, 2025-04-02

### ***** "Jury duty ride"
Excellent
