Used this app all semester and worked fine. Actually enjoyed it. Out of nowhere it logged me out and is now saying it can’t find my account despite me being able to log in online. It is though my school that I have Pearson access, but even when I go to use the QR code for my app it sits like it’s loading then doesn’t do anything. What happened? This couldn’t have happened at a worse time either as finals are in four days so there is that… -- james Shatner, 2024-12-08 ### *---- "Unable to print notes" For some reason, Pearson has made it impossible to print notes. Use the pdf feature you say? Tried it. Save the file to your drive? Nope. Copy it to google docs? Tried that too. Pearson, you are making it very difficult for me to study at the moment. Avoid, avoid, avoid. -- KM1027, 2024-12-02 ### *---- "Search is useless, audiobook function is useless, default zoom is unreadable..." ...default zoom is unreadable, page turn is buggy and unintuitive, and, finally, the TOC is incomplete. 1. When searching for a text string longer than one word, the search results show an excerpt where the phrase appears. But when clicked on, it doesn't take you there. Instead you're taken to the first occurrence of the first word of the phrase. You'll typically be in the right chapter but on the wrong page. You'll have to read for several minutes until you come upon the phrase you're looking for. This is very odd behavior and makes the search completely useless. 2. The audiobook sounds completely unnatural and makes learning basically impossible. The voice inflections are in the wrong places, causing the audiobook to convey incorrect meaning in what it is trying to read. Furthermore, if you're book contains any tables or images with numbers, the audiobook will eventually come upon them and spend several minutes reading out the numbers in their entirety. 3. As other reviewers have stated, books open with tiny text by default, requiring the reader to zoom in. But zooming slightly off center causes the page to turn, which then causes the reader to lose their place from the previous page. Compounding this bugginess, pages seem to be set arbitrarily – some are a single screen of text, some are dozens. There's really no rhyme or reason. 4. Homework problems aren't in the table of contents. You literally have to go to the last section of the chapter and then turn pages until you get to the homework problems. That's ridiculous. 5. Finally, when logged in to the companion website to view the textbook instead of the app, you're constantly taken to the page to buy the textbook again. Confusingly, there's no indication that you already own the textbook. You have to click the Buy Textbook link and then for some reason that will take you to the open textbook page. Sometimes not even close to where I was and it often makes me lose my place. More often than not, the formulas won't load in properly and I can't even read it. I'll close the app and open it again, sometimes it's clear but it's usually not. When using dark mode in the textbook the background is a dark color and there is black text on top of it. I’m taking an online EMT course where all my information comes exclusively from the textbook. I’m going into a field where people’s lives are on the line. This could even apply to those of you that created this app or your loved ones. I had to send pictures, videos, and then twice they closed the ticket without confirming with me. It wasn’t like I let the email sit for days, it was a subsequent response stating that the problem should have been resolved. I still have the same issues. I have simply figured out how to get around the issues. So, I had to navigate a work around to fix the highlight issues. I did notice that the syncing between devices seems to have gotten better. However, I now use my iPad and iPhone much less than before. I primarily stopped because of this issue, so I haven’t tested the issue fully. I think overall, it’s still not going to win me over. If basic text selection for highlighting doesn’t work, then this is a pointless service. As I said in my first review…when in school, we highlight textbooks. This is the first and most important feature. I also don’t like that audio functions don’t always display while playing, it slows me down if I want to stop and highlight something. It’s just poor design with these simple functions. The down side is some books don’t have page numbers which is super annoying when the teacher wants you to turn to a specific page. Another thing is the page will randomly scroll and then scroll back not always to the same part I am on. The notes on the iPad cover the text I’m reading so if ur using that portion of the text u won’t be able to see what u we’re reading. The audiobook will keep reading and the highlighted part will be stuck paragraphs above where the voice is at. The search function also doesn’t work right. If I’m searching for something, I don’t want the search to show me a page at the end of the book, I want the search to direct me to the first instance of the search term. This is the third or fourth time I’ve bought/rented an ebook because the book is what my class requires. I seriously wish I had another option cause I’m not happy with the way the app worked. At.
