This app used to be the best free app for psu football fans and now almost every good story is a subscriber exclusive that you have to pay for. I use the app mainly for the alerts on new stories and then go elsewhere to read about it. I’m not paying $5.99 a month to read two good stories. Complete rip off!
It is WRONG to have kept the $ which accompanies the ticket price for NO football this year!!! 1975 PSU Proud graduate!
It used to be free. I got all my penn state news before. Now you 6.00 A MONTH!
Why all the sudden I can’t read any articles at all without a monthly subscription of $15.00? None of the articles are available to read. Even the ones that don’t require the subscription.
By seeing the pennlive articles, but not being able to open and read them is very frustrating. Only articles that can be read without charge should be placed on this app.
I use the app and can only read select articles, must pay for other.
Enjoyed the article on sports all purpose synthetic fields
I used to use the app all the time before you started charging for it. But I can still get the content for free on twitter. Doesn’t make sense.
I have been an avid penn state football fan for over 15 years and when I found this app a few years back it changed the way I followed penn state football. This app would be the first I would open in the morning to read while I enjoyed my coffee and the last I would open to check for any new updates before I went to sleep. The writers do an excellent job and the countless hours of work that they put in covering the team during both the regular season and the offseason does not go unnoticed! I appreciate how connected to the team and fan base I feel when I am able to log into this app immediately after a game and read the rapid reaction, or log in during the middle of summer and read about the latest news on our recruiting of Julian Fleming. This being said, I can’t help but feel frustrated with the new subscription model. I watch every game live on tv, purchase a ticket and travel to at least one game a year from out of state, and buy plenty of penn state gear for myself and family members. All of this attributing to the more than $100 million of operating revenue (and over $10 million of profit) that the university takes in year after year. I can’t help but wonder why the hard working journalists who make this app possible can’t be funded from this pocket of money and instead decide to turn to the fans who make this profit possible and charge an additional $5.99 a month. Before the new subscription model update, this app made me feel closer to the team. It fueled my fandom for all things Penn state football and surely attributed to my penn state football spending habits, albeit in an indirect manner. Now that this model has been implemented I can’t help but feel slightly taken advantage of. I am not taking a shot at any of the journalists and hard working folks that make this app possible, rather hoping that you will reconsider the manner in which the application and journalist are funded! Last note on a more technical side. There is an issue for me because I do not pay for the subscription. When I try to click on non subscriber exclusive articles, the app does not allow me to read them because of a pop of saying that I must subscribe by Pago g the $5.99 a month. I think this is a technical bug that should be looked at. I appreciate you taking the time to read my review and hope that you take these thoughts into consideration.....WE ARE!
