Browse over 1,000 major airports worldwide, organised by continent. Select any airport to instantly retrieve its current METAR observation, decoded into plain English — wind direction and speed, visibility, weather phenomena, cloud layers, temperature, dewpoint, pressure, and full remarks interpretation. FEATURES • Real-time METAR data from NOAA's Aviation Weather Center • Full METAR decoding — raw text plus human-readable breakdown of every field • TAF forecasts — tap the TAF button to view the terminal aerodrome forecast with decoded forecast periods, change indicators (TEMPO, BECMG, FROM), and probability groups • Flight category display — colour-coded VFR, MVFR, IFR, and LIFR indicators on both the detail view and home screen widget • Animated weather effects — falling rain, snow, hail, fog, and lightning flash overlays respond to actual reported conditions • Wind compass with pulsing directional arrow • Runway Visual Range (RVR) decoding • Detailed remarks interpretation including sea level pressure, precise temperature, precipitation totals, pressure tendency, peak wind, weather event timing, and sensor status • CRT scanline overlay and phosphor glow aesthetic throughout DISPLAY Choose between classic green or amber phosphor themes. The entire interface uses monospaced terminal fonts and retro styling inspired by vintage airport weather displays and 1970s computer terminals. WIDGETS Add METAR data to your home screen with small and medium widgets. The small widget shows key weather parameters at a glance. The medium widget adds a wind direction compass. Both update automatically and sync with your chosen colour theme. FAVOURITES Star your most-used airports for quick access. The favourites tab puts your regular stations one tap away. Long-press any airport in the list to toggle favourite status. DATA All weather data is sourced from aviationweather.gov, operated by NOAA's National Weather Service. This is the same authoritative source used by pilots, airlines, and air traffic control worldwide. Data is US government public domain with no copyright restrictions. METAR observations are cached for 5 minutes to balance freshness with responsible API usage. PhosphorWX is built for aviation enthusiasts, student pilots, weather watchers, and anyone who appreciates both good data and good design. No ads. No subscriptions. No tracking. Just weather. ## PhosphorWX Screenshots - [Screenshot 1](https://is1-ssl.mzstatic.com/image/thumb/PurpleSource221/v4/1d/f4/71/1df47166-74da-8b83-894d-1ebefa982db0/Simulator_Screenshot_-_iPhone_14_Pro_Max_-_2026-02-16_at_17.46.49.png/1290x2796.png) - [Screenshot 2](https://is1-ssl.mzstatic.com/image/thumb/PurpleSource221/v4/5e/7d/97/5e7d9748-fa8b-d434-9f40-cfdaeab4ee56/Simulator_Screenshot_-_iPhone_14_Pro_Max_-_2026-02-16_at_17.46.56.png/1290x2796.png) - [Screenshot 3](https://is1-ssl.mzstatic.com/image/thumb/PurpleSource221/v4/85/2f/87/852f87f0-aeab-b70e-02cd-4df08fca1caf/Simulator_Screenshot_-_iPhone_14_Pro_Max_-_2026-02-16_at_17.46.38.png/1290x2796.png) - [Screenshot 4](https://is1-ssl.mzstatic.com/image/thumb/PurpleSource221/v4/d2/69/d9/d269d9c1-d5a3-f272-3fbb-60a6a5cdb28e/Simulator_Screenshot_-_iPhone_14_Pro_Max_-_2026-02-16_at_17.47.41.png/1290x2796.png) - [Screenshot 5](https://is1-ssl.mzstatic.com/image/thumb/PurpleSource211/v4/8f/3a/77/8f3a7747-6a13-f0a2-a102-637561b0c451/Simulator_Screenshot_-_iPhone_14_Pro_Max_-_2026-02-16_at_17.47.57.png/1290x2796.png) - [Screenshot 6](https://is1-ssl.mzstatic.com/image/thumb/PurpleSource211/v4/f7/da/52/f7da5238-4721-a9db-61b0-49f1e9227f01/Simulator_Screenshot_-_iPhone_14_Pro_Max_-_2026-02-16_at_17.47.03.png/1290x2796.png) - [Screenshot 7](https://is1-ssl.mzstatic.com/image/thumb/PurpleSource211/v4/4a/7d/1f/4a7d1f76-944c-9069-4094-3ec10f8a8785/Simulator_Screenshot_-_iPhone_14_Pro_Max_-_2026-02-16_at_17.47.10.png/1290x2796.png) - [Screenshot 8](https://is1-ssl.mzstatic.com/image/thumb/PurpleSource211/v4/c9/eb/19/c9eb1981-b0cd-0f9f-44ad-024879164571/Simulator_Screenshot_-_iPhone_14_Pro_Max_-_2026-02-16_at_17.48.39.png/1290x2796.png) ## PhosphorWX Store Rankings | Chart | Country | Category | Rank | |-------|---------|----------|------| | Top Paid | France | Weather | #236 | ## PhosphorWX Available In - [United Arab Emirates](https://apptail.io/app/phosphorwx-fcNy/united-arab-emirates) - [Bulgaria](https://apptail.io/app/phosphorwx-fcNy/bulgaria) - [Bahrain](https://apptail.io/app/phosphorwx-fcNy/bahrain) - [Switzerland](https://apptail.io/app/phosphorwx-fcNy/switzerland) - [Ecuador](https://apptail.io/app/phosphorwx-fcNy/ecuador) - [Spain](https://apptail.io/app/phosphorwx-fcNy/spain) - [Hong Kong SAR China](https://apptail.io/app/phosphorwx-fcNy/hong-kong) - [Israel](https://apptail.io/app/phosphorwx-fcNy/israel) - [Cayman Islands](https://apptail.io/app/phosphorwx-fcNy/cayman-islands) - [Kazakhstan](https://apptail.io/app/phosphorwx-fcNy/kazakhstan) - [Sri Lanka](https://apptail.io/app/phosphorwx-fcNy/sri-lanka) - [Latvia](https://apptail.io/app/phosphorwx-fcNy/latvia) - [Mauritius](https://apptail.io/app/phosphorwx-fcNy/mauritius) - [Malaysia](https://apptail.io/app/phosphorwx-fcNy/malaysia) - [Netherlands](https://apptail.io/app/phosphorwx-fcNy/netherlands) - [Peru](https://apptail.io/app/phosphorwx-fcNy/peru) - [Slovakia](https://apptail.io/app/phosphorwx-fcNy/slovakia) - [United States](https://apptail.io/app/phosphorwx-fcNy/united-states) - [Uzbekistan](https://apptail.io/app/phosphorwx-fcNy/uzbekistan) - [Vietnam](https://apptail.io/app/phosphorwx-fcNy/vietnam) --- ## About AppTail [AppTail](https://apptail.io) is a mobile app intelligence platform providing app analytics, ASO (App Store Optimization) tools, keyword tracking, competitor analysis, revenue estimates, and review monitoring for iOS App Store apps.
