## PianoRemote Description
PianoRemote is a control app developed for Kawai digital pianos, allowing players to change sounds, adjust settings, and enjoy the wide variety of built-in music.[*1]

■ Please note that PianoRemote requires Bluetooth permission in order to scan for Bluetooth MIDI devices. Please approve the Bluetooth permission request to ensure that PianoRemote functions correctly.

・ Easy operation of your Kawai digital piano using a smartphone or tablet
PianoRemote allows various functions of the digital piano to be easily selected.

・ Consistent UI design with Kawai digital piano touch panel
PianoRemote is designed to allow easy, intuitive operation via a smartphone or tablet.
The user interface is standardised, meaning there is no need to learn new operations.

・ Music player feature that can be used like a music app
PianoRemote includes a wide variety of songs and classical pieces that are built-in to Kawai digital pianos.[*2]
This music can be controlled in the same way as regular music app. However, it’s also possible to change the sound used for playback, allowing songs and classical to be enjoyed with a different tonal character and atmosphere.

・ Interact with music using “Lesson” and “Concert Magic” modes
In addition to listening to the built-in songs and classical pieces, the additional “Lesson” and “Concert Magic” modes allow musicians to practice the music, and non-musicians to enjoy playing pieces and learning rhythm with a single finger.[*3]

・ Control various built-in functions
PianoRemote can be used to control various functions of the Kawai digital piano. For example, the Metronome is an essential aid for practise, the Virtual Technician allows the sound and other aspects of the piano to be adjusted to suit one’s person preference, while the Dual and Split functions allow different sounds to be combined for more engaging performances.[*4]

・ Straightforward connection using Bluetooth MIDI
PianoRemote supports Bluetooth MIDI wireless communication, allowing immediate connection to the Kawai digital piano without the need for additional cables.[*5]

*1 A compatible Kawai Digital Piano must be connected to a smartphone or tablet.
*2 Copyrighted songs are not included among the piano’s built-in songs.
*3 Some songs do not support “Lesson” and “Concert Magic” modes due to the composition of the data.
*4 “Recorder” and “USB Memory Player” function control is not supported.
*5 Connection via USB cable or a Bluetooth MIDI adapter such as the QuiccoSound mi.1 also supported.

The app is fine when connected via Bluetooth, but cannot connect via USB cable.

Works ok. I use it with a CA501. Annoying it doesn’t remember the previous connection so is always slow to open. The metronome control is odd in that it will sound through your device and not the piano *unless* you also have the BT audio connection active.

The only thing I want to use this app for does not work: controlling the metronome so I can see the BPM. I have a Kawai KDP120 and the only way to hear the metronome through the headphones when playing is to manually adjust to the speed you want without knowing the BPM. I would like to be able to control this with the app. Seems like a basic functionality. But no, when you enable the metronome on the app it plays out of your device and only your device. How stupid is that? You can control everything else on your piano with this app except for the metronome. The only reason I give this two stars is that the app seems well designed otherwise.

Cannot change language to English. All cues in Chinese. Nonexistent "lessons" you would have to buy some lesson book I tried when I was a kid that I did not like then. You would think they would have more modern techniques

### *---- "Beware the battery drain"
I got this app when I bought my new Kawai CA-49. I think as a tool it’s kind’ve nifty even though I’ve not used it much.  

But for the last couple of weeks (around the time I got this app) I’ve noticed my battery life get very bad, like need to charge to 100% twice a day bad. I thought at first my phone was just getting old and it was time for a replacement but today I decided to check the app battery usage.

To my shock, this app was running in the background nearly 24 hours a day and eating away more than a THIRD of my battery each day. 

Again I have BARELY used this app. I played around with it a bit when I got it and then never touched it. I haven’t even been around my piano every day/all day so what the heck can this very simple app be doing all day?

My assumption is there’s a bug in the code but it all seems very shady and annoying. Certainly not worth keeping it. It’s one thing if an app is glitchy and doesn’t always work the way you expect it’s another when it starts messing with your phone in ways you’re not aware of. 

Very disappointed and I hope this gets addressed.

I was looking for a way to play midi files on the CA-49. I did some Googling and found out about this app. It connected to my piano fine and has a big library of music. I was able to play midi files from its library. I’m in classical heaven. 5/5. Great app and UI.

Won’t connect from my iPhone but will connect from my iPad. On my phone, it sees the piano and tries to connect but fails. But if you look in Settings > Bluetooth, it says it is connected. 1 star until this gets fixed.

Useful app! I use it with my brand new CA79. I use an iPhone 8 quoth zoomed view (Display And Brightness -> Display Zoom -> Zoomed) but the view does not fit the screen, and extra scroll bars, both vertical and horizontal appear on every screen. Keep up the good work!

First, this app is a great use of the available technology. Thanks for putting it out. 

The features that seem to be missing:
- Technician settings for electric pianos. They are available when editing on the piano itself, but not on this app. 
- Effects (eg pan, phaser) for the electric pianos. 

The performance of the app appears good otherwise.

I can't rate the app because it only works with the newest line of Kawai electric pianos, CA79/99.  This led to great frustration when I tried to use it with my Kawai CN37 piano, whichis only 3 years old.  Kawai responded to my inquiries and gave good technical reasons why it cannot work with my piano.  The CN37/39 line is capable of being controlled this way, but not with this app.  My opinion: 1) put this information up front in the app store information and 2) please write an app like this for the older models.
