Each stage has 5 beautifully illustrated books with real stories about Tim and Pip and their adventures. Stage 6 focuses on the graphemes - ck, sh, ch, th, ng. It also introduces a new recording feature that allows children to record and hear themselves read. This is an important step in developing fluency, as it gives children a reason to reread and record. Fluency is an important literacy skill requiring accuracy and comprehension. Stages 1, 2, 3, 4, & 5 have professionally recorded and produced audio. However, Stages Plus 4, 6, & 7 allow children to read and record themselves. Children are now more confident readers and will benefit from this new recording feature. They will enjoy checking their accuracy by following the words in the book. Each book provides vocabulary and comprehension questions. All words, except the Heart words, can be ‘sounded out’. To do this, children point to each letter or grapheme, saying the sounds then blending the sounds together to read the word. There are NO tricks in the Little Learner books. Note: Please make sure to enable the microphone on your device when asked or you will not be able to record anything.
