Description

**No subscription required to find out what ARSim can do for you.**

The PlaneEnglish Aviation Radio Simulator (ARSim) is an interactive aviation radio simulator created to enable pilots to learn and master aviation radio communication, procedures, and phraseology and gain the confidence to overcome the fear and trepidation of talking to Air Traffic Control.

AI-based air traffic controllers and instantaneous feedback through voice recognition and speech analysis guide new pilots through realistic scenarios toward proficiency in aviation phraseology and communication.

The built-in training curriculum, step-by-step description of phraseology, and hundreds of randomized scenarios give you the opportunity to level up and to master this critical aviation skill.

The AIRPORT, PATTERN, and HOLD modules provide foundational knowledge on airport signs, markings, and lighting, on how to fly and communicate while operating in the pattern / circuit, and executing instrument holds. The touch-based and voice-based interactive capabilities of ARSim make every lesson engaging and informative, to help you gain new knowledge and to sharpen and refresh your existing skills.

You can access hundreds of airports, step through over 200 lessons, and experience thousands of scenarios and situations of interactions with air traffic control for all phases of VFR and IFR flight. In the process, you will earn FAA WINGS Credits for the VFR and IFR TRAINER, AIRPORT, and PATTERN modules.

Guided by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) phraseology, standards, and radiotelephony procedures, the training content offers you the ability to experience the aviation communication standards used across the world.

As new pilots, you can gain critical safety skills in an accessible and effective way and build critical muscle memory, thereby expanding the learning opportunities...beyond the classroom and outside of the cockpit.

Download ARSim and explore first-hand what it can do for you and your flight training experience. You will be able to try out the full functionality of ARSim with the always-available free content (in BASICS, AIRPORT, PATTERN, GLOSSARY, RESOURCES modules) and the free trial period. Don't forget to look around in Settings for the many customization options, phraseology standards, and primary flight displays.

Its pretty good, but

Sydneyflys on

I like the concept. It’s helped me a especially with different tail numbers and flows of saying things. But it does want you to say back things that are not required and it rates you on it, which I think isn’t fair especially to someone who’s learning because in reality you just have to say the important stuff. Also you can change ATC’s voice, but most of the voices don’t work. Wish they could fix read back problem mostly.

Very helpful especially for new or rusty pilots

I haven’t flown in almost 7 years and my radio confidence isn’t what it used to be! Loving the app to get me back speaking the lingo and getting more confident on the coms! I will say you don’t always want to follow the read backs 100% word for word in real world, but better to read back everything then miss important information!! So 4 star for me because of that. But really it’s a 5 star App!!

Pretty good

It’s a good app, but it isn’t completely right about all the readbacks - often way too many words. E.g. saying the type of aircraft in every response is super weird. Also the radio chatter has a major bug where the other traffic uses YOUR tailnumber. Otherwise it’s pretty awesome - great for a student or refreshing your memory if you’re out of practice with ATC.

Great app, but some glitches

In VFR mode, Takeoff lesson 3, when you open, the radio speaks on its own, using my call sign, as if it was in demo mode. Kind of messes things up.

Very happy with this application

Great application that help me with my radio calls. Great customer service as well

Problem

Sha-Shoo on

I like this application and it help me with my radio commute since I am a foreigner. Sometimes I opened the application and there is nothing there. I is blank. I refreshed and the application and my phone, still the same. This is my second month that I paid for this application. Sometimes when I have a spare time to use it, the application is not working.

Great for student pilots

I’m 10 hours into my PPL training and I find that I struggle on reading back approaches and pattern entry in my class D airspace. My flying skills show that I’m ready to solo, but I need to improve my radio communication in the pattern before I can fly without my CFI. This app has been super helpful even though there are some things where it’s not too exact. In my training airport (Class D), I would report back to ATC on pattern entry “Tower, Cessna 123AB, 4 miles right midfield downwind 36” but in this app you have to read back as “Tower, Cessna 123AB, 4 miles right midfield runway 36” and I keep saying downwind or forget to say runway so I get points taken off for accuracy. It’s a great app to get the concept so that’s why I continue to use it and it’s helped a ton.

Great idea… needs improvements

I love this app, but I have a massive issue when it comes to choosing my home airport (KSMO) for VFR practice. When I am prompted to report my position relative to my airport, the aircraft icon isnt even where it should be. For instance, when I am supposed to be at an FBO, the airplane symbol isnt even ON the airport. Another example is when I am holding short of a runway, my plane isnt even NEAR the runway.

Great, but the speech recognition can get really irritating at times

porcoesphino on

Is there a way the model could be adapted. For example we click a button and audio is updated to help train the model? Or we can click to say "I got it and recognition is wrong" and we move on? I'm a native speaker so I don't see much advantage repeating the sentence over again to try to correct one word it's not understanding.

Doesn't work

thisisstupid123456 on

Try to open the app and it stalls trying to "downloading updates". Has never actually worked.
