• PRC/HK/Taiwan-friendly: every part of Pleco supports both traditional and simplified, headword readings can be shown in Pinyin and Zhuyin, and some dictionaries even support Cantonese. (note: stroke order diagrams do support traditional characters, but use PRC order)

• Audio: Hear Mandarin and Cantonese for words and example sentences using iOS' free built-in text-to-speech system. We also offer add-ons ($) with native-speaker Mandarin recordings and higher-quality Mandarin TTS.

The most useful app for Chinese learners

It's very useful, easy to use and offers a plenty of different features, both free and premium. I use it daily to check and save new words as well as check similar characters or their radicals, strokes, related words, etc. It would be great to have some formatting for user dictionaries (bold and italic) Hyvä äppi kiinan kielen opiskelijoille, kannattaa alkaa käyttää heti jo alussa 👍

Invaluable tool for learning Chinese

Consistently the best

I have been using Pleco since the Palm days, and the app has been solidly realiable, getting consistently better with every update. I am a Chinese dictionary heavy user, doing translating, and it is a huge benefit that Pleco has such a large selection of quality add-on dictionaries, such as Classical Chinese and other Chinese-Chinese dictionaries. Being able to now even browse Wilkinson’s Chinese History Manual is a dream come true.

Made my life so much easier after I moved to Shanghai. Can't recommend this enough. A must get!

Must have app for anyone studying Chinese

Pleco is fantastic easy-to-use app having superb feature set. The dictionary is fast and great although the most common term isn't well highlighted. The flashcard-module (9.99€) makes it easy to practice new words and/or characters. Lovin' it.

Absolutely the best

Everyone who's studing Chinese should get this app! Some of the dictionaries are not cheap but definitely worth the money! Usability of Pleco in my opinion has always been awesome!

Extremely handy

I am studying Chinese in Taiwan n have found this app extremely helpful. Eg. when walking down the street I can take a picture of signboards etc. and use the character recognizer to translate them for me.

Excellent

This really surprised me. App not just translates but recognizes characters from the paper and gives instant translations of them. Learning Chinese has been very easy and effective with this app. The best Chinese - English dictionary and character recognition software I have used. Free version is great but character recognition features and audio pronounciation are well worth the money.
