Must have for beginner students and advanced scholars alike
This app is the de facto standard for anything Chinese dictionary related. A wealth of dictionaries, from (free) basic dictionaries to (paid) professional generic and topical dictionaries; very convenient reader functionality to read the clipboard, documents or the web with immediate character dictionary lookup; optical character recognition; very sophisticated flash card system.. couldn't recommend it more strongly. I use it literally every single day.
Pleico
Simply the best Chinese dictionary app. Multiple features including flash cards. Multiple add on dictionaries including those of interest to Classical Chinese scholars - the Grand Ricci and the Han Yu. Latest update even better.
Best Chinese app out there
Simply put the best app for Chinese that's available. Consistent updates making it more and more user friendly with so many features that are so useful. I love the reader, the OCR (Optical Character Recognition) and the speech to text. A must have app for anyone learning Chinese. The online forum is great also. The founder of the software will reply 99 times out of 100 within a day or 2 to most questions.

I'm currently living in China and I would be absolutely lost without this app to go on. It's so helpful, I can't sing its praises enough.
Great App for helping with Chinese studies or general translation
This is a great App for helping with Chinese studies but you'll need to download some of the additional content, like Full Handwriting and Full Flashcards, to get full use out of it for studying purposes. For general translation it is also great as it works offline which is good when you're in an area without signal and other apps are web based. I'm currently in China and use this app all day everyday, often solely using this app when studying. Most translations are completely comprehensive covering the vast meanings behind each character and offering up sample sentences. There are the odd few words that will have less in depth translation but all in all you will find it hard to get a better translator and study aid.

All the big and good dictionaries taking huge space are rolled up in one app at a bargain price; also excellent flash cards and character recognition from any format (Picts etc.) Les 6 volumes du Grand Ricci sont là à une fraction du prix des volumes en papier. You'll never use another dict. Chinese app again.
Brilliant
I've downloaded many apps for learning Chinese. Pleco is, without question, the best so far. The interface demonstrates how a dictionary should work. The add-ons are excellent. It gets 10/10 for usability. I use this app every day, and the add-ons are worth every cent. If you're learning Mandarin, you really should get this. Highly recommended.
Top notch stuff
I'd be surprised if anyone learning Chinese doesn't know about Pleco. It should be prescribed with every course. When your entire class is buying smartphones (as we did back in the day) just to get Pleco, you know you've got yourself an incredible app. Get flashcards too, they're probably the most important add-on if you're trying to learn.
