Casting lets it down
I am forced to deviate from Spotify to use this in order to access RSS feed private podcasts. I mostly listen on CarPlay or streaming to Chromecast devices. The app fails to store where the podcast stopped playing on the Chromecast devices so if I pause in the middle then play again on the phone it goes back to the start. I have to write down the time stamp I pause or stop at to be able to return
Podcasts skip constantly.
This app used to be a favourite of mine. So much so I’m still using it in the hope they will finally get round to fixing a known issue where the audio will randomly skip back 20 seconds or so multiple time per podcast. It’s infuriating and I’m sick of it. Every update I hope it will be fixed but it’s just not happening. Ready to move to overcast or some other player.
Ads ads ads
Why can’t I listen to content without being force fed advertising? I don’t like ads. They bother me tremendously. I pay for streaming services because I don’t like ads. I don’t watch commercial television or listen to commercial radio because I don’t like advertising. Why is nobody capable of producing a podcast app that blocks all advertising? Response to developers: I don’t care where the scummy ads come from. It makes your app unusable. And now? Deleted.

Best for features
I recently tried another podcast competitor. Came back to Pocket Casts. The up next feature is something I couldn’t quite live without. Pocket Casts is the perfect mix of functionality and usability.
Excellent functionality, iPad layout could be better
This is one of those apps where you spend most of your time using it without looking at it. For this, the app is excellent! However, there are many apps out there, Overcast especially comes to mind, which have a far superior iPad layout, with multiple panes allowing better use of the larger screen. Will this stop me from recommending this app? No, definitely not! As someone who uses multiple OSes and platforms, Pocket Casts is easily the best app for cross platform syncing and support

Great UI, Great Management and Keeps Improving :)
Could be great
Pocket Casts one downfall is unfortunately the most important - the audio. Podcasts can jump forward skipping sections, repeating parts or cutting off before the podcast ends. It’s a real shame Because it’s a better app than apple podcasts in so many ways, far easier to navigate and some great features but if you can’t get the fundamentals right what’s the point.
