Just select the cities, regions, or even whole countries you want to download, and it will be available for offline use, complete with information on thousands of POIs (Points of Interest), travel guides and Wikipedia articles.
To do this we utilize community driven open data from a number of amazing projects. We use some magik to compress and package it in a format optimized for mobile devices. Pocket Earth then renders its beautiful vector maps on your device using our OpenGL ES based MagikMap technology.

Don’t forget this:
1. Using the GPS features of this app can significantly affect battery life. Only leave GPS enabled when you need to use it. Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life. Pocket Earth only uses GPS in the background for route navigation and gps track recording features.
2. This app uses data from the amazing community driven open mapping project called openstreetmap.org! Coverage detail may vary by region, please visit our website to check the map detail for your regions of interest.
3. Does not currently support all asian texts on the map (Chinese, Japanese, etc).

Super
No more paper maps when having this app. You can find what ever you need where ever you are, attractions, restaurants, shops, streets etc, what ever you are looking for, just download the city beforehand you are going to visit. It works almost like a full GPS in offline, shows direction where to go. Just fantastic app for traveller who make trips around the world.

Käytän tätä karttasovellusta geokätköillessä. Todella hyvin toimiva, selkeä ja monipuolinen appi openstreetmapin karttojen käyttöön. Toivoisin kuitenkin että appi pysyisi seuraamaan sijaintia myös taustalla vaikka reitin piirto ei olisikaan päällä. Nyt sijainti unohtuu lähes heti kun sovellus menee taustalle. Lisäksi paikan syöttämiseen koordinaateilla tarvitsisi yhden desimaalin lisää.

bought this for a trip to Hawaii and have already downloaded maps to there and to my home region. Works great
Excellent interface, lacking in offline features
I bought this, because I thought I could use it as an offline map while abroad. The user interface of the software is great, but you cannot search addresses or plan routes while in offline. This makes the software practically useless for me. If these offline features were included, this would be the best offline maps app.
Nokia does it better
I find that when offline, the GPS on the iPhone is pretty terrible. Well, we can't all have a Nokia. This app is pretty good if you can use a compass and know where you are already - downloading entire countries is useful. Worth paying for.
Beste Karten-App!
Ich nutze Pocket Earth seit einigen Jahren und habe parallel auch andere Karten Apps in Betrieb. Keine ist vergleichbar. Besonders die Offline-Funktion ist unschlagbar und für eine zuverlässige Navigation in abgelegenen Regionen ohne Mobilfunk unverzichtbar. Ein treuer Begleiteter der stets zuverlässig und stabil läuft.
Gut mit Raum für Verbesserungen
Als offline Karte gut geeignet, aber ganz anderes als die grooose Konkurrenz! Leider ist die topographische Erweiterung kaum den Preis wert, denn sie gibt sehr grob die ,,topographische Linien,, wieder! Und die Suche bzw. Festlegung von Orten über die geographische Koordinaten lässt viel Essentielles zu wünschen übrig, wie z.B. die Eingabe von ,,hinter der Komma,, Zahlen, was geographisch gerechnet einige 100m Unterschied ausmachen kann! Daher und auch wegen der sehr ungenaue Angaben zur Standort von Kulturgüter wie Ruinenstätten - immerhin durch Selbstsetzung korrigierbar - nur gut aber noch nicht sehr gut! Auch die Straßenführung wird selten aufgefrischt! Für die Stadt aus diesem Grund noch nicht geeignet! Eher als persönliche Reiseagenda mit Mankos nutzbar! Natürlich könnte man selbst Straßen, Städte, Dörfer, Denkmäler etc. hinzuzufügen- da die Möglichkeit besteht, über Open Maps Korrekturen zuzufügen - aber wer hat schon im Ausland und auf Forschungsreise noch die Zeit dafür übrig? Dennoch vielen Dank dem Entwickler team für die Mühe und weiter so! Eine e-mail Adresse für Korrektur-Sendungen wäre auch eine gute Alternative zur Selbstergänzung, damit es eine kollektive Aufwertung stattfindet! Darüber hinaus wäre die Möglichkeit einer offline Routenplannung nötig, nicht immer und nicht überall - vor allem im Ausland- hat man Signalempfang!!
Fehlt nur noch OpenSeaMap
Die App ist der Wahnsinn. Nutze sie schon seit Jahren. Wenn es noch eine Erweiterung um die OpenSeaMap gibt, welche Schifffahrtzeichen usw. anzeigt….
