With PocketGrib you can download, view and analyse global weather data while on the go.
Wind, precipitation, pressure, temperature, wave and other data extracted from GRIB files are displayed through our powerful GRIB viewer interface.
Perfect for sailors (both sailing and in the pub), windsurfers, storm chasers, outdoor enthusiasts, amateur and professional meteorologists.

PocketGrib downloads and displays the following weather types:
- Wind speed and direction (10 m above ground/sea)
- Precipitation (rain, snow etc)
- Pressure
- Air temperature
- Waves (including Mediterranean and Black Sea)
- Cloud cover
- Relative humidity
- CAPE (Convective Atmospheric Potential Energy)
- Current (Atlantic only)
- 500mb Height
Direct download of GRIB data from NOAA's GFS (Global Forecast System) model
- Forecasts up to 8 days
- Data steps: 3hr, 6hr, 12hr
- Worldwide coverage
- Resolution: 0.25°, 0.5°, 1°, 2°
- Data updated 4 times a day (every 6 hours)
Also support for COAMPS (0.2° resolution), WW3, NOGAPS, RTOFS (Currents) and FNMOC WW3 (Mediterranean wave) models.
GRIB forecasts are published without human intervention or review. As such, the end user requires some knowledge and awareness. Most GRIB models do NOT accurately forecast hurricanes and tropical cyclones so their use should be combined with specific hurricane and tropical cyclone forecasts.

Pocket grib is a great tool for ocean passage and extended coastal passage making. Using the GFS grib information it closely mirrors the info we can obtain through saildocs while out of Internet coverage at sea. The format works well and is user friendly. The Best GRIB viewer. Best Weather Forecaster/Planner
I have spent a lot of time looking for the best GRIB viewer for PC, MAC and IPAD. PocketGrib is easily the best. If online then very easy to select the map location and the parameters for the weather you want. If offline then download (satphone) the Grib via Saildocs email service to computer and transfer to PocketGrib on ipad/iPhone via iTunes. The animation is great as are the metrogram and data pages. I have not found any other Grib viewer to be so complete and user friendly. EXCELLENT!!!

Pocket grib is great! I have used it for the last 30,000 nm, from New Zealand to Hawaii to Alaska and now to the Med via Panama! Brilliant!

First app I check
This app gives so much info with a very simple display. This is the first app I check when deciding when to take the boat out. While I am on the water I make it part of my routine to check the app to see what to expect in the following hours and days. This is one of my must have apps to go sailing with.
