It just keeps getting g worse each year. Just renewed and have the Gold version and there is supposed to be no ads. As soon as they renewed I have freaking google ads popping up in a finance app I pay for that’s a load. The help section on the app is no help. No way to contact people. There still is no way to copy these people but they are quick to auto renew as their gold level still has nasty ads in it don’t buy this!! Report to apple asap it has increasingly gotten worse and the star rating has gone down. Figuring the top of the line version would be rid of ads. It’s just as bad.
I loved the original app from the past, and I hated the new version until I got used to it. Now I like the new version more than the old version, even though I have to pay a subscription fee.
This app completely different than the original version on PM. This version is garbage and doesn’t have half the usability that the original version had! Please bring back the old PM!!
The app is a clone of iCompta (except it features advertisements all over the place). To get rid of the advertisements, you must purchase a subscription. Personally I would recommend spending a few dollars for iCompta (no subscription) instead of subscribing to Pocket Money.
The app description claims 26 years and 1 million users, but that was before they destroyed the old app and replaced it with the current garbage one. It’s completely disrespectful to the previous developer, and in your own words in other replies you’ve stated this is a new app! Remove your false claims that this app has been around for 26 years!
I’ve used PocketMoney since I’ve had an iPhone 3GS. This new version is way too complicated and frustrating to use and look at. No UX design whatsoever. Update 05/21/23 Recently came back one I saw it can automatically download transactions from your bank. Was able to add one of my main banks, but when I try to connect to Chase, I get a blank screen after confirming to connect. Opened a support case and the response I got was that it was Yodlee’s API and they probably don’t support it anymore. Chase is the US’ largest bank so I find it confusing that they wouldn’t support it. Also PM’s response made it seem like they didn’t care to find out why it wasn’t connecting. I attempted to look online but they only provide support to developers. I’m hopeful PM will try to assist but their new ownership doesn’t seem like they care.
Update: I didn't think I could be more frustrated, but I was wrong! After reading the developers response, it seems like there should be more reports, but none of mine were working. So I updated to the latest version, 3.1.13, to see if that fixed the problem, but it made everything so much worse!! Now all my documents and accounts are gone! I have nothing! So I tried to contact support, which requires you to create a free account, so I created a free account, but no matter how many times I click 'resend verification email' I get nothing (yes my email is spelled correctly). So tried the website, but that just tells you to use the app; I tried the app store, but that brings you to the website! I'm stuck in a circle with no way to contact support!! If the developer reads this please contact me or provide an email that I can use to contact you. It boasts a lot of features, but many of them are not useful to the average user. And basic stuff you would think they could get right, but Nope! Budgets: if you have subcategories be prepared to manually select the subcategory budget for each transaction, and recurring transaction don't even give you an option to choose any budget so you have to wait until it's posted (Yup, you can't post it early) and then you have to choose a budget. Next if you import any kind of history you won't have any budget info since the budget does not use the category field, but a specific budget field. Reports: there only 2 kinds and they are useless! There's no reports by category or payee and you can't even choose preset date ranges (quarter, year, etc.). To do anything close to this you have to go to the account (or group of accounts if they're together) and search by keyword and enter specific dates, but then there's no total! In a financial app, there's no total! And like other reviewers have said, this is just ripped off from iCompta so there little hope of them changing anything since they didn't design the app. After 14 years with Pockeymoney, I'm done! Going to look for a better app.
I installed and then quickly uninstalled after seeing ads posted in the help documentation.
I retired in 2013. I had always kept a paper check register balanced every day. There had to be a way to toss the pencil. Found PocketMoney on a Google search and it happened to be late December 2016. The Help section is well written and support answered my questions well enough that I was ready 1/1/17. Long story short, it’s been six years of keeping accurate and balanced accounts. It’s not complicated, as the girl says. Every account appears on the main page. Just select the one you want to update. It’s a daily snapshot of your finances. Responsive support influenced me to give this app such a high rating. Longevity is the proof of product and customer support. I recommend it for the iPad especially.
