Description

PocketSword is a Bible Study app for the iPad, iPhone & iPod touch (iOS 8.0 and above) that is built upon the powerful SWORD backend developed by the CrossWire Bible Society.
Modules are available for download (offline use) within the app, with permission granted by the various copyright holders to CrossWire to distribute them for use in its apps. When you download this app, it comes with the KJV & Matthew Henry's Concise Commentary on the Whole Bible pre-installed, but you can use the downloader within PocketSword (located under the More tab) to choose which additional modules you wish to download from CrossWire and have available for offline use.

English, Greek (modern and ancient), Hebrew, German, Dutch, French, Italian, Spanish, Japanese, Chinese (simplified & traditional), Arabic, Afrikaans, Latin, Russian, Tagalog, Thai, Vietnamese and many more.

Search selection isn’t accurately landing

J-Fray on

It used to be, when you performed a search, you could click the pertinent verse and you’d land right on that verse. Now it just takes you to the beginning of the chapter and you have to scroll down to the verse. There are times you won’t accurately get to the verse either by selecting the chapter and then the verse number. It just lands you back at the top of the chapter. I’m using an iPhone 14 version 16 if that helps.

Please include the ability to highlight even in the commentaries

I absolutely love this app and use the Matthew Henry Commentary routinely. It has opened Scripture to me in so many ways. Please add the ability to highlight passages including in the commentaries. These passages have meaningful application, but it’s very difficult to go back and find them again.

I will wait for ever until updates, for now I will use with all its errors. iPhone just wants to make money off apps constantly needing to update all the time they do. One thing that would make this app super supremely supreme is being able to transfer bookmarks when switching to new phone. 😁

Touching any button, such as Bible Version, or Preference, or Download, … will immediately cause the app to quit. This used to be a very nice app, now is impossible to use. I am on iPadOS 16.2. John

Great tool but for some unknown reasons, the download module is disabled on macbook. Clicking download causes the app to freeze. Think there's a bug or some incompatibility issues with running on Macbook

Just good and helpful Bible Stuff

I love this app and e-Sword on my computer. I have even donated in the (distant) past. But I no longer have a search function for the KJV in pocket sword, and it won’t let me install one. This is frustrating, because e Ben thou I love the translation options that are available I often think in KJV English when I’m searching for a verse. Any ideas how to fix this? Edit: I reloaded again! Now it works great. Sorry.
