## Portal Reviews in United States

### ***** "This App is Awesome"
This is the best sound machine ever. I have used it in so many places, and actually used it when I went to Iceland and saw the Gullfoss Waterfall in real life! It’s awesome when I’m sleeping, or focusing, or just reading for pleasure! The new update is even better and takes the app to a whole other level. No more do I have to listen to one portal constantly, I can make my own collections! And the new portals are awesome! Thank you so much portal team!

### ****- "I can’t afford it."
I know it’s not your fault but mine. But let me say this: When you decided the price just in the way America usually accepts, it may be unfair for people from countries that are not as rich as the USA.

Take me as an example. I am from China and now working in China. Averagely, per month I earn 5000¥, which is about $700. Anything paid in dollars can be a huge damage to my wallet 😅

But I like your app so much that the fact I cannot afford this could be so frustrating.

I’m living in a city, same as you guys. We’re living in the forest of concrete, with no fresh air, no quiet moments… We need this, but it’s a bit expensive.

I’m just expressing my feelings, not pushing you to do something. I feel bad not having the chance of reaching my beloved places and viewing the scenes, just because I earn Yuan instead of Dollars.

But still, thank you for the free scenes. This world is beautiful.
-- Caliton_, 2026-09-18

### ***** "THE MOST RELAXING APP"
This app is AMAZING, SOOOO RELAXING, I HAVE NO CRITICISM, GREAT JOB! I just think it would be cool for a suggestions tab, to suggest portal locations.
-- JCNofear, 2026-09-17

### ***** "Amazing"
Portal is probably the most convincing nature-sound app I’ve used. I’ve listened to nature sounds and focus/background audio for years, and what stands out here is how natural the recordings feel rather than how “impressive” or processed they sound.

The biggest compliment I can give it is that I sometimes forget I’m wearing an earbud. The sounds don’t feel pushed right into my ear — they feel like they belong to an actual environment, with the natural reflections and ambience you would expect outdoors.

One thing that really surprised me is how well Portal works for me with only one earbud. In my experience, a lot of binaural or highly spatial nature recordings become much less convincing when you remove one side. Portal still sounds remarkably natural to me with one earbud, which makes it especially good for sleeping. That is obviously my personal experience, but it has become one of the biggest reasons I prefer it.

I also appreciate how honest the app is about things like ADHD. It doesn’t make ridiculous claims that a playlist is going to treat ADHD; it simply acknowledges that nature sounds may be helpful for some people. That kind of restraint makes me trust the product more.

Portal may not replace every kind of background audio for every mood, but for realistic nature sounds and relaxation, it has become easily my favorite.

### ***** "This is a amazing app that has made focusing so much easier for me"
I’ve always had trouble focusing as a student on work and this has changed my whole path.. for the best!! I love the beautiful scenery on the sounds, I love how real the sounds are it’s as if I’m right there! So cool and so incredibly beautiful. The most beautiful app I’ve ever owned!!! I would absolutely love for there to be more free options of sounds for the people that cannot buy the premium version. Thank you for helping me relax and focus more. - Me

### ***** "Love it!!"
I use Portal for everything they give. Focus, sleep, and escape. The sounds suit me, but I want a ocean sound. The “pay once use forever” should be more affordable. But other than that love it!
-- JW 2023, 2026-07-27

### ***** "Good"
Hi this app is good and I recommend it.But if the graphics are better, it will be more complete, and please increase the features of the free version.
-- NOVA_11’, 2026-07-22

### ***** "Fantastic for the workday and home life"
My family and I love this app!

It’s a great focus aid during work, and I especially love the moving desktop option on Mac (it’s a productivity feature I used via other apps more than 10y ago and never thought I’d find it again!)

Portal has also been a great rest / sleep aid for both the kids and adults in our family, too. A great all around app.
-- Sean Without An H, 2026-07-17

### ***** "$99 For Lifetime is a great value"
I’ll be honest, the original $300 price was a little steep for me. But at $99 this is one of the best soundscape apps you can get. And lifetime access means one less subscription. This app and Odysound have the highest quality soundscapes I’ve tried on any app.
-- gennick2, 2026-07-14

### ***** "Awesome App No real complaints"
This app is perfect! Especially when I can play music of my choice. This app made go buy Apple AirPods in 2023 so I could listen to dynamic sounds
