Description

Portion Tracker was designed to help you become more conscious of how much you eat. We all have tried counting calories, but it simply takes up too much of our time to count every single thing we eat. Instead, with Portion Tracker, you only count portions.
Portion Tracker is a simplistic approach that is focused more on consistency rather than accuracy as it only takes about 20 seconds to track a whole meal. However, those 20 seconds will give you a good idea of how much you're eating throughout the day so you can adjust accordingly.

Portion Tracker Reviews

Ilogical and unusable app

pbpshop on

United States

First it doesn't save my data, had to submit 3 times. Second it states that a portion are 120 calories. A portion of what?? So if I have to eat 20 portions a day of 120 calories, according to this app is the same if I eat 20 carbs or 20 veggies. Very bad because its nice and might have a hig potential, though looks like they are not interested in updates...

The value of exchanges does not work for my diet.

Easy to use

I like the simplicity, but would love a half portion option.

Very simple. That’s why it’s great

This app makes keeping track of the number and variety of portions you eat very easy and quick. Just click and check off what type of portion you’ve eaten. Three improvements I would love to see to make it five-star: (1) A water tracking category to cross off how many 8oz glasses of water you’ve had that day. (2) The ability to record a half-portion. (3) A simple notes field at the bottom of each day.

Great App, but I probably won’t use it...

The app is great. I love the simplicity and customizability of it. However, each day really needs a notes section at the bottom where you can type up a running inventory of what you ate that day. Without it, the app feels incomplete.

Good for portion based diets

This is really simple and easy if you are on a portion based diet and hate calorie counting. I was on a portion based diet while I was pregnant. And I am on a portion based diet now with my husband doing Insanity and me doing 21-day fix. Easy to track and plan my meals for the day.

Not enough information

I bought this app and it seems useful but it’s unclear how much a portion Is for all the food groups. For proteins, for example meat, is that a cup or half a cup of a portion? It should give an estimate to how much of what foods can we eat for each food group that would be considered a portion. Consider adding that to the app please.

Fantastic - easy-to-use, focuses on the basics, clean (and bug-free) interface

I used to really love calorie counting apps, but I’m in the middle of a move right now and just don’t have the time to keep track of all the details like I used to. I love how simple this app is, how quickly I can enter in information, and how surprisingly effective it has been to get back to basics with eating. While this app really helps with dieting, it also really helps with keeping meals balanced (That’s actually one of the reasons I picked this app in the first place - I didn’t see a lot of other apps that made it easy to make sure meals were balanced). It helped me get out of some poor eating habits that have been creeping up on me lately (snacking at the office). The reporting is simple but effective as well. 5 stars for a simple, effective, bug-free app that helps dieters focus on the big picture.

Feature request

Portions ARE defined in the settings. 120cals is a portion. Regardless of what type. Request: please allow to organize in meals. So maybe have the total counters up top, but in the main screen allow to separate. I get lost trying to figure out how many carb portions I assigned to what and why later in the day. So if you had two slices of pizza, you could group 2 carb portions, 1 or 2 dairy portions, and a fat or fruit (depending on how you look at it) portion together. And that makes sense too b/c that’s about 480-600cals in portions which is about right for two slices of pizza.

Portion not defined

Good idea but, since portions are not defined, it is unclear to me how to use the app with any level of accuracy. Save yourself the dollar.
