Very good no-frills dictionary.
The app is a good reference point when you get stuck and good to learn verb tenses
All the Portuguese words seem to have a Portuguese flag icon next to them. But the dictionary is actually Brazilian rather than European Portuguese. For any students using this app, be warned that some of the translations are therefore completely wrong.
Best feature is being about to ‘favourite’ words , to add to your list. Extra features you can pay 1 fee of £9.99. Occasional pop up add- easy to dismiss. Has audio recording of words to help with pronounciation. : )
I would advise against buying this app. I have paid full price for it and been knocked back to the free version twice by updates. This means that I am now the victim of noisy, full screen advertising when using. The “help” desk has refused to correct this despite me sending a screenshot of my AppStore invoice. I live in São Paulo and use Google translator every day, it is free and easier to use. Save your money.
I’m a Brazilian Portuguese teacher and this is the app that I always recommend to my students. It’s a fantastic all-rounder, an extremely useful tool for learners of Portuguese (both Brazilian and European). The dictionary is one of the best available in the market, with excellent features such as pronunciation of words (you can select the accent you want in the settings, Brazilian or European) and the ability to add notes. But the app is much more than just a dictionary - it’s also a phrasebook (perfect for those going to Brazil on holiday), a verb conjugator (essential for students), fun vocabulary quizzes and flash cards. There are a lot of Portuguese learning apps out there and they are mostly put together very quickly, obviously with the intention to make a quick buck, but you can see that there was a lot of thought put behind this one. It’s also very intuitive with a simple and clean interface. By far the best app for students of Portuguese.
I usually have an open mind with apps but I couldn’t find a setting ANYWHERE. I just want to change it from Portugal Portuguese to Brazil Portuguese but there’s no sign of the settings at all. I’m sorry I really don’t want to be rude I just am unsatisfied with this service and I want to leave a suggestion so it can improve and guide future Portuguese learners.
I already paid for premium and all the sudden I’m getting ads? I paid for it a few months ago and have been using it consistently. Now I’m getting ads all of the sudden. Please fix this.
