Apple Watch App

Super Snarfer on

Can somebody please tell me exactly what the Apple Watch app does? All I ever get is a message stating, “Add Scenes from the Menu in the PowerView App.” Well, duh, what do you think I’ve done? About 15 months ago. In all that time, the Apple Watch app has never worked. And yes, I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling it; don’t go there. Look, if you’re going to have an app, then support it and make it work. Right now, it looks like some very lazy people keep this silliness around just to point to it when their bosses ask what have they accomplished. What it really does is that it makes Hunter Douglas look inept and uninspired. Is that really what you want your customers to think?

No meaningful support

JADReview84 on

The app often states that user is not locally connected, even when I am on Wi-Fi. There is little functionality to troubleshoot problems on your own as the support documentation online is terrible and the app is bereft of basic information, such as “what wifi network is the hub on?”

Caught in a loop

Chicago 0001 on

After creating an account I have to add a home. But I can’t add a home without adding a product. I can’t add a product without adding a home. I’m caught in a loop 😭

Requires starting over periodically

Bosco Tech on

The system has always been somewhat unreliable with limited functionality unless you’re on the same network as the hub—pretty much negating the whole point of the hub and app. (If you’re at home, you can just use the remote control and, at least with my version of the blinds and remote control, connect directly to the blinds without the hub.) Every few weeks the hub will stop working, and I learned that simply unplugging the hub and plugging it back in will restore its operation. Consequently, I put the hub on a “smart” outlet programmed to power cycle the hub once a day, which fixed that issue—noting the irony of needing one smart device to control another. However, in the less than three years I’ve owned the system, it simply stopped working twice, and a power cycle could not restore its operation. Instead, I had to reset the hub and start over, as if it were new and just out of the box, tediously reprogramming each scene. Fortunately, I have only two blinds, so it “only” took a few hours and one call to their support number (which was helpful and responsive) to do so.

Horrible UI

Utter-Butter on

This is one of the worst layout I have ever used. Clumsy, clunky and not intuitive. 10K in shades with garbage app. Been on the phone with HD to get it resolved and it’s just dumb.

iOS widget not working again

Guy Har on

3.8.0 promised no change to the old iOS widget for gen 2 hub users but actually the old widget disappeared. Multiple users including me reported this with disappointment and the dev seemed to fix the problem and then replied to each review implying it was never an issue. The old widget did indeed return them but has disappeared again today. Perhaps 3.8.1 released a few days ago was buggy? Whatever the case this app is not stable.

V3 update is bad

Tekjunke on

I’ve been a happy user for 3yrs… you release a v3 update and I can no longer use the phone widgets anymore… why take away functionality that’s been flawless.

Save your money

Nckyk64 on

Honestly the worst $30,000 I’ve ever spent. I could write about the insane lead time, the countless “repair” visits, or the “tech” customer support that simply refers you to your dealer. But I’ll spare you. Get buy from anyone else.

Ok. Security problem

yceycecye on

Overall an ok app… but it requires the same WiFi network as the shades. This is a security problem. There is no need to be on the same WiFi network.

Wonky Control. Won’t Add Shades

Panamera Sad on

Should not have gone on the cheap side to buy Hunter Douglas shades the PowerView app will not recognize install shades and can’t find anywhere on the Hunter Douglas website where there is a how to
