Used this tracker when I started. It gave me so much information that i needed.
Misinformation, cash grab & judgey
The misinformation comes in a couple of forms, first one of the weekly articles is about sex and orgasms during the first trimester. It perpetuated the myth that sex and/or orgasms can cause miscarriages and to “refrain for the wellness of your baby”. This is not factually accurate and just imposes religious notions around women’s bodies, sexuality, & motherhood instead of a health-focused, medical perspective. This has been the case with a few of the articles, especially around food, as well as some toxic positivity around “think happy thoughts!” notices during weeks 6-12, a period when some folks could potentially be dealing with a lot of nausea and discomfort. All in all, it’s been super insensitive. In addition to this, the development presented in certain weeks is off and the size of the baby is exaggerated to make it seem like there’s more development than what’s happening at that stage. I was shocked when I was in for my ultrasound and the fetus was much smaller than what I had read on the app (regardless of whether I used the ‘last period’ or the due date that the app uses to calculate the development). The app aggressively pushes making Amazon wish lists and paying for features - features many other apps offer for free. My recommendation is to look for other apps that have better credibility because it’s already a confusing and tough process - all you’ll find on this app is misinformation, outdated misogynistic myths, and money grubbing.
