Prismatext Reviews

Good concept, difficult to start

I saw an ad for this app on Instagram and I was really interested! However, I was extremely disappointed by the hoops you have to get through to get started reading. I very much would like to use this app, but I would much rather pay for the books separately rather than pay a monthly fee for credits. Or, I would like to just buy credits instead of having to subscribe to a service!

Gives you the excuse you need to read the Classics

This truly is a great way to improve my vocabulary! The text display and pronunciation transcription in English (I’ve been learning Korean) could use some improvement but it’s been a great experience so far.

Disappointing

The app works when it wants to. I haven’t been able to open the app when I actually want to read for the last 4 days. It seems to work midday when I’m working and can’t read. My error says there is something wrong with my profile. They asked me to reset my password but it won’t allow me, it just freezes and spins and spins. I wouldn’t recommend. I loved it the 2 days it worked but I’ve never experienced anything like this. I feel like I donated my $13 dollars I paid for the book because at this rate I’ll never be able to finish it. *Update* 3/5/24 Still can’t get in. I have a different error this time, receiving data timeout. Please try again. I’ve emailed support last week and still no response.

A different way to learn

Good concept. But why are the Spanish words not capitalized properly? Otherwise no complaints. 😊

A good way to pick up vocabulary

I like this app for vocabulary and for reading books I’ve wanted to read while learning a new language. I don ‘t see this as a stand alone. It is useful to combine this approach while also using a language learning app. Prismatext does a great job in getting you going snd interested in a new language.

It may be too soon to gauge the absolute effectiveness of the method but I feel excited and can’t help believing I am actually absorbing the lessons. There is a good selection of literature from Snow White to Dostoevsky. More to whole but frankly I am enjoying read again. So bravo.

Good but it could be better!

I love the idea of this app as I am always trying to find fun ways to practice my Spanish. I do wish that there was a larger book selection, a way to set the pages to scrolling instead of tapping, and a little more information in some of the translations (for example, unconjugated forms of the verbs for reference, maybe definitions in the target language so you can practice figuring it out before resorting to English). Otherwise, I love the concept and I’m having a great time reading!
