Progressive Alarm Clock will wake you up gently and gradually using the beautiful sounds of the Tibetan singing bowl. At the specified alarm time, the bells will begin to ring in a pre-defined pattern - starting out softly and slowly and gradually getting louder and more frequent. You'll come out of your slumber slowly and peacefully. No more being jolted awake.
+ After setting the alarm, the app can be put in the background - allowing you to use other apps. At the specified alarm time, the alarm pattern will begin.
+ Choose from five pre-defined patterns with varying bell schedules and escalation lengths.
+ Choose from six different bells of varying size and metal compositions - from bright and clean to deep and complex with lovely overtones.
+ You may enter journal notes upon awakening - great for recording your dreams before the memory fades. You can then go back and review your journal entries and you may export the journal via email. For privacy, you may set a password to prevent unauthorized access.
+ To save battery, you may lock your device's screen and the alarm will still work. Either start the alarm and press the lock (sleep) button, or turn on the "Auto-Lock" setting.

Progressive Alarm Clock Reviews
Needs improvement
I like this app and it’s a great way to wake up but I hate that the volume setting for the app is connected to the general phone volume. I have to fall asleep listening to sleep stories and I put them on really quietly and because the alarm volume is connected, it’s too quiet to wake me up in the morning. Any alarm app should have its own volume control independent of the volume used for any other apps or feature on the phone.
One thing needed
It’s good, but it needs to be turned off when the phone is locked. At the moment you need to unlock the phone and open up the app to turn it off.
Volume problems
Mucks around with master volume of device, even when you don’t touch the volume. Uninstalled.
Perfect
Basic looking and not the most modern looking interface, but the way it wakes you is perfect… so gentle you don’t even realise you’ve heard the first ‘bong’ but you’re awake… love it
So What's Up With This?
So fed up with so few options when I'm woken by crazy jolting alarms that set my heart racing right at the start of the day... I can't seem to get it right... so I went for this... nice and calming - great idea...
Well, I had to catch a flight which meant getting up at 4am. Just as well I set a backup alarm on my iPhone.... coz this one didn't go off!
Had I not gone for a backup option I would certainly have missed my flight, and aside from the £6 I have shelled out for this software, I would have been looking at £1000s of business loss on top. I'm a freelance show producer - and I can't afford to sleep in.
I would say reliability of the software to actually work is a little higher priority than what sounds it makes. DO NOT rely on this. I have no idea why it didn't trigger - I tested it first and it worked fine in the evening... but leaving it overnight - with the phone on 'sleep' (moon) mode, but the volume on full etc etc - did not trigger. Really unhappy with this! Grrrr!
Missing Features
So good! Waking up slowly and feeling more alert most of the time, but could really do with more options.
- setting alarms for the week instead of having to set it every night
- weekend mode
- customisable pattern option (there doesnt seem to be a 20 min one with long gaps)
Alarm
I now wake up to a soft alarm rather than some crazy loud alarm making me jump
Great alarm!
Love this alarm and have been using it for years. Might be an idea to update it for "dark mode" on the new OLED phones by telling it to ignore "invert colors".
Requires Development
If the iPhone is in silent mode the alarm doesn’t override and chime. App has to be left open in background to work, so if you accidentally close it while closing all open apps, as many of us do, the alarm is cancelled. No functionality to preset alarms for the week. (ie weekdays chime at ... weekends chime at ...)
Has the makings of a decent alarm but at the minute it’s god awful, and I’m amazed it’s a paid app.
