ABOUT
It's classic. You step outside for a few seconds to eat some gyros and the server goes down, or you lie down to do some light reading and a web page needs an emergency typo fix. Maybe your company uses IRC. Maybe you just like to check in on your servers often. Either way, you're the type of person that already uses SSH. Having a quality SSH client in your pocket is a very good idea.

Welcome to Prompt 2. In the three years since Prompt was released and became a favorite of admins, we've been constantly releasing updates, while also taking notes on what significant new features people wished Prompt had. Then, we did almost all of it.

Prompt 2 is, simply put, an excellent SSH and TELNET client. But how can it make SSH tasks easier? Read on.

### *---- "No more updates and lots of bugs on newer iOS"
This was a fantastic app that really didn't need any more features added to it; just regular maintenance for compatibility. Prompt 2 suffers from a bug on newer iOS versions where switching apps will render the terminal unusable, by cutting off anything below wherever the terminal view would fall with the keyboard enabled. Unfortunately, Panic won't fix that for its paying users, because they want you to pay them again, for what amounts to the same basic product.

I must admit that purchasing Prompt 2, only for it to be replaced by Prompt 3 (in fairly short order, and as a fully paid upgrade) made me swear off purchasing Prompt 3. I have used and trusted Panic's software for decades now, but no longer: this is no way to treat paying users. I honestly expected better from Panic.

It used to be a great app. Now there is a serious scroll issue that renders the app useless and none functional. I tried emailing support a few times with no response. I see other reviews mention this same issue.  Sad to see it’s a been a bug for several months with no fix.

There's a long-standing bug that locks up the UI a second or two after launch, for about 2 seconds. The list stops scrolling or responding to taps, which is annoying. Please fix it.

This app is snappy as heck. For some reason it’s even faster than the ssh client on my M1 Pro Mac. Not sure if the keygen is secure but it generates an animation that makes it look safe. Love it!

### *---- "Broken on the iPad"
I use this app heavily for remote support after hours. Used to work great on the iPad with the Smart Keyboard. 

However, at some point recently it broke and now should you switch to another app while logged in to a remote server, scrolling breaks and can’t be fixed until you log out and open another session.  You can no longer see the prompt.

As someone that needs to work in multiple apps to do my job this cripples the app for me. I contacted Panic support and they said it was a known problem which they will fix in a new app, Prompt 3, which is in beta. They even invited me to the beta. 

Sounds good?  It would, except for the fact that I paid money for Prompt 2 and their “fix” is for me to pay more money for a new app?  I don’t mind paying for a premium app but if they’re not going to maintain it then why should I stick with them?

Prompt 2 worked great for me. I don’t need new features. I need a working app.
