Prompt 3

I’ve been following panic for a very long time, since the beginning of the early days of transit on the Mac, the software has always been one out of a handful of developers that set the bar high for decently designed software and as such I bought Prompt at £5.99 and Prompt 2 at £9.99 but I won’t be buying Prompt 3 for £99, this pricing is simply ridiculous for a single piece of software. At the end of the day this is a terminal application it’s not that special and there are plenty of alternatives that get the job done that are completely free, panics efforts dont warrant this price tag. Especially when after a couple of years, they’ll just remove it from the App Store and try to re-fleece you on the next version and your “lifetime” purchase won’t mean zip. All the apps doing this on the App Store are essentially false advertising and stealing from you. Greed is not a good look gentleman. Do better.

Ok so I want a decent SSH client, and happy to pay for it , but this to me is not there. For me an SSH client should have port forwarding as I often use a more complex setup. So as an SSH client for basic terminal access its very good, the general look and feel is well thought out and presented. I may pay for a yearly trial, as my 7 days is about to run out but it would mean I need something else for some of my more complex configurations I use. It just isn’t the complete package for me.

Far too expensive for what it is. Especially for users who bought Prompt 2.

£100 for a terminal client? I'd have bought it if the price was more reasonable but no chance at this price. Pretty massive kick in the teeth to users of Prompt 2, which has now been removed from the appstore.

Annual subscription or an extortionate one-time chunk of change for a slightly prettier, yet less configurable or tweakable terminal app? MOSH? That's what "brew install mosh" is for...

Absolutely ridiculous pricing model. SSHellfish offers more functionality and the lifetime unlock for the price of the yearly sub here. Anyone who actually uses iterm2 on a Mac knows it is faster the other reviewer must be barking mad. Prompt 2 was abandonware for the last few years, they will not be maintaining this don’t spend £99 on it.

Shame the sync is not working though!

I have been waiting for v3.0 for a long time, but damn this beats my expectations by light years! The speed on this thing is unreal 🚀, I am not sure, but I sense it is even faster & cleaner than iTerm... 😬 I will give it a shot on my Mac as well, I am sensing I might eventually fully migrate to prompt! Never thought someone could convince me giving up iTerm!

In order to add servers it requires a subscription.
