Here's secrets that Public Storage hides in their rental agreement
I’ve been a loyal customer of Public Storage for over two years, renting more than 10 units (I’m paying more than $2000/month), and I’m the biggest customer of my local public storage store. But my experience has been deeply disappointing. The app is riddled with bugs, including a fatal issue that caused my original account to be lost due to database corruption. I cannot retrieve it with the correct password, contacted local store manager as well as online support, none can fix it, and I have to create a second account. When I raised these concerns with customer service, they replied: “I apologize if there was an issue with our app, but that is offered as a courtesy and there is no guarantee provided to you regarding its availability or functionality”
The payment process is nothing short of a scam. After about six months, your unit WILL increased drastically, far exceeding market rates. They basically force you to rent a new unit and transfer, otherwise you will be paying much more than the market price. Also how they calculate the rent duration is unintuitive, for example: I rent a unit 06/18, and returned it 08/04. There are 47 days. You would think I should pay at most 2 months worth of the rent, but I paid for 06/18 to 08/31, basically I paid for 74 days, more than 2 months. The customer service confirmed it is standard, though incredibly unfair: “ rent is due on the 1st of each month. We do not prorate out so if you vacate on or after the day rent is due then you are responsible for that full payment.”
Additionally, maintenance is terrible—elevators were broken for over two months, and also elevator was out of order twice within 2 years.
To top it off, the unit sizes are inaccurately advertised, as even the measurements are just estimates according to the rental agreement, here’s the reply from customer service: “the unit sizes are covered in our rental agreement under section 3.1. The measurements or size of your space is an estimate.”
Public Storage hides those details in their rental agreements, and takes advantage of its customers with these predatory practices. Beware before renting here.
Gate access doesn’t work
I can’t use the app to unlock anything, nor does it give an access code when selecting that option. Thankfully they sent me the access code in a text, otherwise I would be outta luck
WORST APP EVER!!!
This is the worst app ever it never works. It sent me and my movers to the wrong location so I had to pay my Movers an extra $185 on the day of my move. The app gave me the wrong location of where my storage actually was and also it never works never ever ever. This app is pointless.

The app stopped working with the last update. Will not load or refresh

Terrible terrible . My app has not worked for 6 months. I’ve deleted the old app and uploaded a new one and it still doesn’t work . I asked the employee in Orland Park for help and she said she can’t help. I’ve contacted the home office by numerous times and they haven’t responded . What a terrible company

Day #3 the app still don’t work and I can’t access my own stuff not even with a dam code
App is not working
I am entering the proper credentials. I can sign in on the website just fine using the same info. The app will not let me sign in and I would like to pay my bill. Also the Bluetooth thing to open the gate has not worked in over a month. They raised my rent by 30 dollars and I’ve only been there since March. I don’t understand the rental increase when half the options aren’t working.

I can login fine on the website but the app just spins and spins and then says error API timeout and will not let me login after I updated it
