The app always knew where we were and my daughter loved that we took a photo and it ended up in the end screen. The actual Carcassonne storyline was pretty lacking. It wasn’t scary or interesting, and it didn’t make much sense. Also, the 10 puzzles were mostly very similar letter-number codes. The thought put into the clues was excellent and the venue was fantastic. I joined several family members and we spent a lovely afternoon walking through old St. Boniface figuring out the clues. This is a neat idea for a group. Puzzles were great for all ages. My youngest (8 year old boy) helped with the physical things like pictures and such, my daughter helped with the puzzles. I should have brought my reading glasses as I couldn’t see some of the small details in puzzles. It is hard to see your phone if you have a protector on it because the glare and the sun, if it’s bright out. I recommend not wearing polarized sunglasses to do this otherwise you have to take them on and off but I would have had to anyway if I had brought my reading glasses as I can’t see well up close. I don’t need glasses for distance though. Wish it was a little more interactive like getting a discount for a shop you stopped outside of or (as someone else mentioned) the location of the chapters having something to do with the area. Or even like augmented reality such as scanning an area with your phone and finding an image such as a character from the game. Or more like the Pokémon app idea. I don’t know. Just a thought. If I had anything to say that was a bit confusing was I found that in order to complete the puzzles sometimes you needed the hint. We completed the Escape from Oz in Vancouver. Besides walking in town rather than more Oz-like area (the original starting point), only wish the challenge to find the next clue had been a bit more testing. Having to solve simple quizzes and then getting an online map to guide us to the next spot in town was significantly easier than what we were expecting. Even our 11 and 12- year-olds were solving the puzzles in no time. And we were hoping to have some in person encounters with organizers (in costumes). Having done it once, I would go again, but this time take time to pop in and out of stores and other points of interest than trying to just solve clues.
