Quinterval is an interactive circle of fifths including the display of the corresponding scales.
A key in the circle can be selected either by touching the tonic or by turning the slider in the middle. The circle displays both the respective major and parallel minor scales. The display ranges from F-flat major (D-flat minor) to G-sharp major (E-sharp minor). A second slider can be used to move the visible circle section accordingly.
The note names can be set between german, english or italian notation.
The lower area shows the related major scale with its key signature. The first step and the sixth step with the corresponding minor scale are highlighted. The notes can be displayed with G-Clef, C-Clef or F-Clef. The accidentals can also be displayed before the individual notes.
Additional functionality is available as an InApp purchase:
- Display the notes of the parallel minor scale
- Display triads with their chord names
- Playback notes by tapping on them
I wanted to use this to quickly see diatonic Chords . Please include the traditional Roman Numerals to the degree scale at the bottom . Please add Cflat Maj with its 7 flats . Please add Csharp Maj with its 7 sharps, even though it is rarely used.
Great app!
This is a great app, with clean UI, and good pricing for the full version. My only gripes are that you can’t do both options for accidentals placing(which could be solved by either making both options checkboxes, or adding a third option that is just “Both”), you can’t have multiple octave scales (which could be a box with the current number of octaves in the scale, and +/- buttons on either side. The scale could automatically resize itself to fit), and the lack of arpegios (which could just highlight the notes in the current scale with a different color if they are in the arpegio.) Thank you for reading my review, and I understand if difficult to implement features like multiple octave scales aren’t added, but simpler things would like my first and last idea would be greatly appreciated.
Simple and easy to use
This is exactly what I needed! I was looking for an app to help me learn key signatures as well as practice doing scales on my violin. Would be nice to be able to change the fingering numbers for other instruments, but overall a minor thing since the app runs so well and is easy to use.
Love the app
This is a great teaching tool.
Looking for access to have arpeggios, extensions, inversions, the basis is there.
It’d be a total theory app then!!
Thank you.
Perfect!
This is exactly what I need. I have the option to view the bass clef and see all the notes including the Nashville number system. It’s so handy. Thanks for this app. Love it
Update created errors
Most recent update as introduced errors in the scales....not all notes are shown with the sharps of the key signature
Update: after providing the initial review the developer was quick to act on my comments and fix the errors!
Cool app but...
Maybe I’m a music dummy but mine says “H” for the B scale & notes when I’m pretty sure it should say “B”... what is the H scale?
Great
Support for tenor clef would be nice but other than that great app.
YIPEEEEE
Yeaaaaaaa
It doesn't work
I went to update the app and for the last few days it's just a gray box that says installing but nothing happens. I tried to delete the app but it won't work.
