R4 Companion™ is a feature rich app, designed to give you the most out of your R4, while enhancing your driving experience along the way. Featuring intelligent alerts and advanced muting! R4 Companion™ is the COMPLETE solution to enjoying your R4.  

SpotLock 2.0 and Advanced False Assist 3.0.  Both data driven systems have been updated using 5 years of historical data. This takes your detector to a whole new level of quietness and safety against real threats. 

The R4 Companion™ app leverages years of optimizations and features from the Radar Companion™ series of apps. (Available separately for owners of the V1, R8, R9, &amp; DS1 radar detectors).

Enhanced GPS location based &#039;false muting&#039; via SpotLocks™ - All future updates to this app are free to purchasers of R4 Companion™

• SpotLocks™ - Location based false silencing has never been this good or easy. Turn on the intelligent location-based learning and let R4 Companion™ do the rest. Or you can manually &#039;lock&#039; or &#039;unlock&#039; locations with ease from the main alert screen.
• Full navigation functionality in preparation for future CarPlay integration.
• New alert screen (portrait &amp; landscape views). 
• Posted speed limit displayed on main alert screen (US, CA, AU, NZ).
• Customizable low speed muting based on PSL.
• Quickly switch back from navigation screen to classic alert details screen.
• Works seamlessly with the R4&#039;s auto mute memory, manual mute memory, k-block, and quiet-ride built in muting.

I’ve downloaded countless apps, however, this is the only app I’ve ever bothered to write a review for. This app exceeded my expectations and more. If you think $9.99 is too much, consider you spent $300 on the r4. This enhances the R4 greatly. Much appreciation to the developers.

An improvement in controlling the R4 and worth its modest price. However, the IOS version has no options to change the R4’s primary display settings for speed, compass, scanning, time, etc.  I was disappointed these major user interface choices are missing and would rate the app 5 stars if it had them.

### ***** "Modern radar detectors are complex."
This app demystifies what is going on in the radar detector and eases customization. 

I would like a more detailed manual, but I think that since I’ve only used it for about 6 days, the info will come organically.

This seems to be a pretty good app except it be better if you could put it on the Apple CarPlay in your car. this way if you get a phone call, you can still see the alerts on your car display.

Love the app. Only thing keeping me from giving it 5 stars is no ability to change the screen colors. Other than that love it.

The speedometer and compass features on this app are very distracting.

The creator of this app should take a page from Uniden and allow the option to minimize visual distraction when radar/laser updates are not happening. Uniden detectors come with a &#039;scanning screensaver&#039; that can be turned off, atleast.

### ****- "Bluetooth connectivity"
The only reason this isn’t 5 star is Bluetooth constantly disconnects and reconnects, over and over.

Update: thank you for your quick response Angela. All suggestions are in place as suggested. Distance from R4 to iPhone is less than a foot. Good Bluetooth signal strength. It also happens with both vehicles.

It is difficult to imagine that this app works so well with just its default settings that it made me believe my R4 wasn’t working properly. The truth is, I was getting a vast number of false alerts that this app helped to mute - while
Keeping track in the log for later review.

The only thing I haven’t figured out how to do it to use the map function in the app to go back and mark certain spots as false alerts. You can mark the type of alert, but there doesn’t seem to be away to mark as a false alert. Otherwise perfect. The in app settings config for the R4 is very helpful too.

This App takes the R4 to a new level.  Love the customization options.  As someone who operated a radar unit for 30yrs and knows what radar units are being used I was able to narrow down the alarms to just police radar. A suggestion for a future update, I would love the ability to auto MUTE the startup process.  I don&#039;t need the radar detector making all those annoying announcements and beeps every time I start my vehicle.
