With war imminent, the development genius of Robert Watson Watt and Arnold Wilkins experimented with the visionary concept of detecting aircraft by the reflection of radio waves. Following successful trials at Bawdsey on the Suffolk coast, a chain of RADAR sites (Chain Home) was built around the UK. This app shows all of the early sites and provides a satellite view of each location as it exists today plus details and photographs from those early years. The development of RADAR is explained together with full details of Bawdsey where so much of the early work was carried out and where today the Bawdsey Experience provides visitors with a truly memorable day out. RAF fighter airfields active during the Battle of Britain are also shown with brief details of their role and operational dates. ## RADAR Chain Screenshots - [Screenshot 1](https://is1-ssl.mzstatic.com/image/thumb/PurpleSource112/v4/f8/4f/61/f84f61b4-96c9-8c10-1d1f-e5ede3c54f07/9416bb95-4055-41d8-a379-b951341c8479_Simulator_Screen_Shot_-_iPhone_11_Pro_Max_-_2022-03-23_at_17.42.02.png/1242x2688.png) - [Screenshot 2](https://is1-ssl.mzstatic.com/image/thumb/PurpleSource122/v4/26/67/53/266753fd-148c-fff8-269c-40b0cc449b3b/ac2f462f-7abe-4b8f-b52d-efae811b8547_Simulator_Screen_Shot_-_iPhone_11_Pro_Max_-_2022-03-23_at_17.43.31.png/1242x2688.png) - [Screenshot 3](https://is1-ssl.mzstatic.com/image/thumb/PurpleSource122/v4/e9/05/a6/e905a69b-929a-d71d-5412-3fa12d5d18dc/9a5a93af-5b64-442d-b7a9-50c9eacc6a69_Simulator_Screen_Shot_-_iPhone_11_Pro_Max_-_2022-03-23_at_17.43.43.png/1242x2688.png) - [Screenshot 4](https://is1-ssl.mzstatic.com/image/thumb/PurpleSource122/v4/c6/96/70/c6967058-2d58-376c-5337-bff62371f39d/f4046503-e7af-4bd5-a4fb-8688060184be_Simulator_Screen_Shot_-_iPhone_11_Pro_Max_-_2022-03-23_at_17.43.50.png/1242x2688.png) - [Screenshot 5](https://is1-ssl.mzstatic.com/image/thumb/PurpleSource122/v4/ca/e1/80/cae18006-a2fd-4338-597b-1f05dac03a20/1fd8b9c6-fa4d-4e35-8833-2372d0b00edd_Simulator_Screen_Shot_-_iPhone_11_Pro_Max_-_2022-03-23_at_17.46.30.png/1242x2688.png) - [Screenshot 6](https://is1-ssl.mzstatic.com/image/thumb/PurpleSource122/v4/ca/5c/6c/ca5c6cf0-1365-909b-b72f-9cb1fdfc418d/6546cebe-6d79-400f-a5be-eec34862c0f9_Simulator_Screen_Shot_-_iPhone_11_Pro_Max_-_2022-03-23_at_17.39.12.png/1242x2688.png) ## RADAR Chain Rating Breakdown in United Kingdom - 5 stars: 18 (75%) - 4 stars: 2 (8%) - 3 stars: 3 (13%) - 2 stars: 0 (0%) - 1 stars: 1 (4%) ## RADAR Chain Reviews in United Kingdom ### ***** "Great app" If you love the Battle of Britain, this is a great app to get, really interesting and a lot of information. -- Andyirons, 2017-04-24 ### ***** "Excellent resource" Fascinating information on the UK's former and existing 'Chain Home' radar towers, good job. -- BenjiDalmeidi, 2015-03-23 ### ***** "Radar Chain" An informative and carefully thought out App. Full of information.
