Raya

I have gone on a few Raya dates here and there, though I don’t love the fact that the app doesn’t allow you to filter by location. I live in Miami and am barely seeing anyone on Raya who also lives in Miami- Most members live in NYC, LA, London etc. I would like this app a lot better if it allowed the option to filter by location especially because it’s 20 dollars monthly.

I gave it a try for about 4 months. All my matches were from people out of state or out of country. Most don’t talk. It was exciting at first, but the excitement dies off when no one actually meets up in person.

I was curious about Raya because people refer to it as this app where you can meet other creatives, and everyone talks about it like it’s a dating app (but it seems more like networking). I was surprised when I first got in that I was only seeing white women, which was a bit of a red flag, and they’re all very polished, pretty girls but that’s really not my typical type (straight-passing white women). Also there’s no functionality for queer dating on the searches or world map because it shows you whoever, usually straight men and women. My last girlfriend was the lead in a band I used to be a fan of, and I really enjoyed that we had mutual respect for each other’s art, so I was just hoping to find something like that on here. But there aren’t many artists tbh. Idk just disappointing for a $25 mandatory charge, I could go through all my local likes on Tinder for that. And it’s annoying that there’s no way to set it to local. Around the holidays I’m not traveling out of state much and if I’m going to be dating someone I’d prefer their home base to be close to mine. And I knoww there are plenty of people on Raya in my city 🤨

Signed up, was given about 8 suggestions then stopped giving profiles to keep an intimate community. ~ Pay money to be even more limited than free applications Also charged $27 not $25 for the month

They trick you into thinking that pausing your account means something but they’ll keep charging you.

How does one get a referral and who can sponsor me ? Haha

Spent time a little time on a few other apps (The League, Hinge) but I haven't found another app that fosters deeper or more meaningful connections like Raya. The biggest difference I can decipher from my experience and friends who still use these other apps is that Raya offers an amazing filter of quality people that I actually enjoy talking to/spending time with. So worth paying for.
