## Raya Description
Our focus at Raya is to provide members with access to exciting people and opportunities around the world. We are a private community where people come to connect for dating, networking, and friendship.

Prospective members may download the app and submit an application. Once submitted, applications are placed in queue and reviewed continually. An applicant's status can change from "waitlisted" to "accepted" at any time. 
Once accepted, members have the option to purchase a 1, 6, or 12 month auto-renewing membership and will have full functionality of the entire service while their subscription is active.
Raya's community values – trust, respect, and privacy – are core to the membership experience. Members who act in a manner that is not reflective of these values and other community guidelines may have their accounts suspended or terminated. Similarly, Raya exhibits those values as a company by giving members full control over their visibility within the community at all times and ensuring that personal information is secure and never shared, among other things.
Initial payment is charged via iTunes Account at confirmation of purchase and auto-renewals are charged within 24 hours prior to the end of the applicable period. Auto-renewal may be turned off at any time through iTunes Account Settings. Any subscription cancellation will be effective at the end of the applicable period.

I tried this app and there is a low number of users in the London area. Most profiles seem to be up to 40 in majority and ratio women / men is not favourable for women.

I design and build apps so I tested this one.

It seems the ‘like’ component doesn’t work ethically. It states you’re given a limit on ‘likes’ per day when the reality is you have a limit on people served to you. You could reject every person but only like one and still hit your limit of ‘likes’ so the naming and explanation on why there is a limit (to encourage you to talk with your connections) is incredibly misleading.

This prompted me to also test what happens if you use the rewind button on the same person and whether your like limit could be reached simply repeating that with one person. It did. Which shows that Raya does not discern between who and how you have engaged with others historically. All it accounts for is the engagement of the app, not the individual.

Without that, you lose the expected range of potential people to match with and will ultimately be served the same people - which you’ve already probably noticed, right?

It’s also suspicious that you cannot set and then be served anyone who matches your desired criteria. You are simply given random people from a pool of age groups, gender, and location. How is that not a fundamental feature in 2024?

These aren’t bugs. This is intentional design to minimise your chances of finding a meaningful connection. This app is gamified and costs you your time and money.

You get reported for taking screenshots but wouldn’t it make more sense to do like WhatsApp - where you actually don’t get to take screenshot? Now you get reported when you forget about being on this app but you also get a screenshot.. just bad app design if you actually care about not having people take screenshots!

I was happy to pay a little more for membership for something that claims to be a cut above. Unfortunately, despite signing up for a year at a tidy cost, that isn’t enough for the makers of this app, who seem desperate for even more money at almost every level of this app!

“You’ve run out of likes (10-15 max it seems): pay us money to get more.”

“Want to introduce to someone with a comment? Pay us more money.”

“No more profiles until you talk to your matches. You are? Doesn’t matter, no more for you… unless you pay us more money.”

Hope they update it in future to just leave you alone if you’ve paid for a membership but for now it just feels grubby and, ironically, makes the whole thing seem cheap!

This app is a rubbish. if you want an app like this join the League as they will accept you. I have been sitting for months and months on this app waiting to be accepted. I work for London firm in a good job and consider myself to be a good guy with hobbies, interests, morals and good values. Yet I am completely side lined. This app is not worth my time and I have distain for the elitist element especially when they except any old person (I.e. not the elite). 

Don’t waste your time and certainly don’t waste any money. This app will be out of business soon as they are a joke

This app is a joke. You pay £20 a month and then are only allowed to see 10 people every 12 hours. Most people I saw lived in completely different countries as me (what’s the point?!). A lot of the men also had quite a douchey, influencer vibe, didn’t really see anyone famous at all.

Love Raya only had it a few months but I personally think it’s great even tho it costs £20 a month I feel like this means people take it a bit more seriously. Only annoying thing is i screenshotted forgetting I’m on Raya and not another dating app and I really don’t want to get banned. I wish you could design the app so if you screenshot it covers the conversation anyway and you don’t ban people cos I feel like I’m gonna accidentally do it again and then get banned 😪

I used to be 8 GBP per months now is 20 per months. You get zero filtering ability, so you need to swipe past girls and boys, as well as people based in the most random corners of the planet. And you only get like 20 or 30 swipes per day at the very most. That is, if you are able to be on your phone at the exact time that they allow you to swipe again. They do this thing where they restrict the amount of profiles you can see per day… to ‘foster community’. 

At this rate maybe in 10 years I will match with a guy who is actually based in the country or city I’m in. Wish me luckkkkk !
