I just downloaded this app and paid for one year’s subscription. So this is my initial review. A few reader-friendly changes are needed for me to upgrade from a three-star review. Unless I’m missing something, this is what I found so far that I don’t like: (1) you can’t highlight a word in a story or article you’re reading to get the definition, and (2) when you close the magazine and reopen it doesn’t open where you left off but back at the beginning and it looks like there’s no way to bookmark the page. Surely Reader’s Digest can do better than this!
It’s like an apps created 10 years ago. With this apps, you cannot select a word to search the meaning of it. Also, when you switch to an app to another and return to this apps, you loose the page you were on. Regards, R
Sur l’application sais écrit langue français mais comment faire pour changer la langue car je vois a nul part comment faire
Just spent half an hour on the phone with readers digest. They didn’t have a clue how to set it up for my iPad. They tried to charge a higher fee as well. Then spent half an hour with iTunes to get the subscription cancelled. Apple were quite helpful
Readers digest can do better. I’ve spent way too much time chatting with customer service trying to access my digital issues. Still only get a couple issues available without charge. Time to step up and get new developer.
When is Readers Digest going to match all or most other magazines and allow their print subscribers full FREE access to the digital version for the duration of their subscription? I have yet to subscribe to another magazine that charges for both the print and digital versions. As much as I love the Canadian Readers Digest, I refuse to pay for two separate subscriptions when I strongly believe both versions should be made available to me for the length of my subscription when a print subscription has been paid for. If a subscriber desires just a digital version of this magazine, then offer a subscription price lower to reflect the lower cost of paper, packaging, and postage resources used. I look forward to the near future when the powers at be at Canadian Readers Digest make a commitment to change their subscription policies and prices to allow print subscribers full access to both versions over the lifetime of their subscription while charging a slightly lower price for subscribers wishing access to only the digital version. This isn’t a rocket science decision or change to the programming code to the appropriate software.
I just wish it would remember where I was when I shut it down. Now have to constantly bookmark the page.
Seems to work OK so far. For those getting the "unable to connect to iTunes Store" error message, you have to turn on your "in-app purchases allowed". I've had a digital subscription since it first became available in early 2012, and yet don't have the option to download anything earlier than February 2013... Hopefully syncing to the computer will recover the first year of purchases!
An automatic renewal was paid on February 14/2017. Everything was working fine until an update on March 6/2017 and now I can't access any issues. I don't know if this is due to the update or what but I am not happy. I have emailed from within the app twice and have gotten no response. I went through the App Store (developer) and it bounces back telling me that the email doesn't exist. I have tried chat on the Reader's Digest website, no help there either!!! I want access to my issues or my money back.
