On the App Store, Reality is marked as 12+. However, when you enter the app itself, it comes up with a message reading “you must be 18+ to continue”. Developers, has it ever occurred to you that many minors out there will press “ok” and continue into the app? Like I mentioned, I used to be a frequent user of this app. I loved streaming with my friends and being a “proper” vtuber, which was exciting to me. However, now that I’ve matured a bit, I’m starting to realise that this app is, in fact, a hotspot for creeps and predators. The only thing the chat filters is swear words, so you can say literally whatever and not get banned for it. The “moderators” of this app aren’t doing their job properly if they think it’s okay to just sit and let anything happen. And back to the creeps thing- this app is packed with them. You think mainstream social media is bad enough? Then take a look at this train wreck of an anime vtuber app. I know from experience that the majority of users on this app- no matter what age they put in their bio- are in fact men in their 20s-30s. I’ve had comments that made me incredibly uncomfortable, and there aren’t moderators for each stream. You have to self-moderate, which is something most young kids aren’t good at. This app is clearly aimed at children due to its vibrant marketing, so tell me why once you enter the signup process you have to be 18+? You’re claiming your app is not safe for under 18s, but marketing it to them. So, as a conclusion. Get more moderators and *assign* them to moderate streams (and I mean *all* comments/activity in said streams) as soon as they go live. If you can’t deal with that many, add a live limit and increase the app’s performance to take large audiences. Make it compulsory to provide ID when signing up, don’t just have one of those half-hearted “this app is 18+” buttons. If you see a minor doing a stream, ban them, it’s for their own safety.
