Good app, with some tweaks could actually be fantastic
Sorry, this will be a long review. To begin with, I actually like this app because it allows me to organize recipes from different place - and I have quite a few. That’s the main feature I subscribed for. However, now that I’ve actually started using the app to browse my recipes after importing a lot of them (over 200), I’ve become more and more annoyed by some missing features that feel quite obvious. I’m going to list all the problems and missing features I’ve noticed, starting with the most jarring. 1. Not being able to search recipes by TAGS You can add “tags” to your recipes like dinner, salad, soup, gluten-free, meal prep, one pot, etc. However, you cannot actually search for recipes using those tags, which I find extremely frustrating. For example, if I want to see all my recipes under the “meal prep” tag (or any other tag), I would have to manually go through all my recipes, find the ones with that tag, and then group them into a single cookbook - one for each tag…This feels redundant and time consuming. I love the tagging feature but hate that I can’t actually use it for anything practical. Searching by tags would be the logical step. Currently, the only search filters available are title, ingredients, cuisine, and total time. This is the biggest issue I’ve found, and just this problem alone made me drop the score by one more star. 2. No way to share the meal plan I like that you can organize recipes into the “My Meal Plan” tab. However, in its current form, I think this feature is only useful for people who live and cook alone. I would love to use this function, but I can only see myself doing so if I could share my meal plan with the people I share meals with. It would be even better if there were an option to have two connected lists: a personal one and a shared one (similar to Google Calendars). For example, you could have your own default meal plan and a shared meal plan for all your family members or housemates, with the ability to toggle its visibility on and off. 3. Missing PDF recipe import I love how easy it is to import recipes from TikTok or pictures. Even though it doesn’t always work perfectly, it’s still a huge time saver. However, I wish there was an option to import recipes from PDF documents. I have a lot of recipes saved as PDFs, but the only way I’ve found to import them is by taking a screenshot of each page and importing those image - or copying and pasting the text, which doesn’t always format correctly.
