I can sum up this app in just a few words. “Puerile slop with a nice cover…”
Set up a new account, prepare for password requirements to fail over and over. Minimum of 8 characters, 1 number and one special character. Yeah I spent about 15 minutes on this before it finally let me through. The best method is your words with capital letter, special character and then numbers in that order exactly. After WiFi connectivity is set up, prepare for scheduling, yourself only with the apps scheduling and wasting loads of time. Scheduling here is more like an after thought. The entire scheduling sequence, needs to be redesigned. It will allow you to create custom programs. But even when you set up sunrise and sunset times, it refuses to let me enter the time slot times between them. My Aqueon smart light and its BlueIQ user interface and its functionality, is light years ahead of this. Scheduling is a breeze, and you have full control of all aspects of the lights behavior. It may be that their non lighting products work better in the app. I would not count on it. Looks like the companies reputation for junk software was dead on. 

I cannot overstate this enough. A fundamentally bad user experience awaits you. I DO not know how it is possible that the developers behind this app thought it was ready for release. 

I’m an avid user of PixInsight, a high level image processing app for processing astronomical data. It has a high learning curve, and takes time to master. It relies heavily on scripting. I also do coding with windows apps. I can tell you, this app, was created using the laziest way possible. Emphasis on good looks, poor testing for functionality and bugs.

I can add all the devices to my WiFi but nothing shows up in the app. After all the money spent this should be very simple to set up. Regretting my decision. I even had professionals set it up. They couldn’t figure it out either. Now I’ve got a giant paper weight in my house.

The connectivity is terrible. My lights just disconnect from the app on a bimonthly basis. I have to spend at least an hour every couple of months trying to reconnect the lights to my tank to our internet at my house. I would never have gotten the RedSea lights had I known this.

Do these companies test these things?  Test them in x amount of homes and if they only work in 7 out of 10 homes don’t sell the product until you have refined it.  Incompetence!!!  I’ve spent way too many hours trying to get the app to connect to the devices and still not been successful.  I have the best internet services and routers and still can’t get the gyre or reef led’s to connect.  Support is not good.  You get an AI response that tells you to turn your router on and off.  Unplug the device then plug it back in.  Delete and reload the app etc.  I’ve done every trick in the book and can’t get them to work.  Bought some EcoTech Versa pumps and they just worked and connected easy peasy.  Going to cut my losses and buy all Ecotech products.  I didn’t know better.  Reading some reviews shows lots of people with similar problems with Red Sea.  Companies… please…just make something that works and we will pay for it!
