Reverse: 1999 is a 20th Century Time-Travel Strategic RPG developed by Bluepoch. 

On the last day of 1999, the "Storm" fell upon the world. You witnessed an era reversed beneath the rising raindrops. Defying all reasons, what unfolds in front of you is the world of an era long past.

As the Timekeeper, observer of eras, you are free to travel through these eras after each "Storm." With the aid of Sonetto, a powerful Arcanist and ally from the Foundation, your mission is to travel through eras to where the "Storm" is most active, find other Arcanists who can sense the coming "Storm," and save them from being "sifted out" of the timeline.

### *---- "Deeply disappointing development"
I’m writing this as someone who once genuinely enjoyed this game, but its recent direction makes it very hard to recommend—especially to new players.

The biggest issue, and one that cannot be ignored, is the overwhelming and repeated sexualisation of female characters. For a 13+ game, many female character designs feature clothing that is clearly meant to suggest sexual undertones. This is not an isolated case—it is frequent, noticeable, and increasingly difficult to overlook. What makes it worse is that this is not new feedback. A previous skin collection already received significant backlash for the exact same issue, yet nothing changed. Continuing down this path shows a clear disregard for player concerns. It feels less like character design and more like selling female characters as products built around suggestive appeal. This is especially disappointing for a game that once marketed itself as “women-friendly”—basic respect should be the bare minimum.

Beyond that, the gameplay has become increasingly pay-dependent. With the latest CN anniversary updates, the game is extremely difficult to play without newer characters. Older units are quickly made irrelevant, forcing players to constantly pull or spend just to keep up—even for basic rewards. The newest limited character can effectively replace most existing ones, making past effort and purchases feel meaningless.

Character writing has also taken a hit. Previously established characters with depth and agency are now ignored, and in one case, a new character was introduced under the same name but without any of the traits that made players care about her in the first place. It feels careless and dismissive of long-time fans.

Trust has also been broken multiple times. The developers stated that duplicate pulls (“portraits”) would only slightly enhance a character and not impact gameplay significantly—but that promise was reversed within months. Since then, confidence in their word has dropped to zero. Their communication hasn’t helped either, with responses that come off as dismissive and unwilling to address player concerns.

Attempts to “fix” issues have been inconsistent. The “Euphoria” system, meant to make older characters viable again, is poorly implemented—only a small number of characters benefit, while many older ones (even from version 1.0) are still ignored. Popular characters are skipped, while already-relevant ones receive further upgrades.
