This app organizes the vast and varied library of Rick Steves’ audio content into geographic-specific playlists so that travelers can enjoy ready access to the information that relates specifically to their travel plans. Many tracks provide general cultural and sightseeing information gleaned from his public radio program, Travel with Rick Steves. Other tracks are self-guided tours to great sights and historic walks. While we travel there’s lots of down time, and this application can both entertain and teach. Rick Steves Audio Europe will hopefully make your European travels more meaningful and more fun.

• The app downloads and stores audio files on your device. No Wi-Fi or cellphone connection is required to listen. (You will need a connection if you choose to add audio tracks later.)
• Handy maps (PDF) that complement the self-guided audio tours can be viewed on your device.
• The audio content originates from Rick Steves guidebooks and the Travel with Rick Steves public radio program. Self-guided tours are excerpted from Rick Steves country and city guidebooks.

Reviews
Not one to write reviews
I’m not one to usually write a review on an app but this one has been fantastic in Europe. We’ve done both the city walk tour in Vienna and Prague and loved the free overview it provided. Its so nice being able to pause to grab a bite to eat or take a break. We plan on doing more in Athens. Must download for Europe!
Brilliant! Thank you, Rick Steves
I once heard that you can never trust a man with two first names. That clearly doesn’t apply to Rick. This app is brilliant. It has a great map, good audio and it’s free. Take that Larry Withers.
Navigation directions within the Louvre is terrible
The title says it all. Very frustrating to use.
Poor experience
The audio guides are amazing but they constantly freeze / audio constantly cuts out. I have to close the app and restart it to fix it.
Great content, poor pause/play support
Amazing audio tours, with PDFs for some showing maps. Would be great to be able to search the tour titles, and play/pause using the system play/pause (like with AirPods) would really help when traveling and leaving the phone in a pocket to save battery! For those have trouble with this, you have to open the app to correctly resume the audio.
Incredible
This free resource has added so much color to my time studying abroad in Italy. I would much rather listen to the walking tours in this app than jockey around a large tour group trying to listen and take in the place at the same time. I’m impressed by the wide range of topics from history to modern culture across Europe. Perfect to download before your trip for some entertainment while riding public transport.
Perfect for Our Family
Our family of five (parents with two teens and a 12 year-old) utilized several of the Paris podcasts: Louvre, Sainte-Chapelle, d’Orsay, Père Lachaise, Notre Dam. I think the length of each podcast is perfect for a family because it gives interesting details and background but keeps things brief so we don’t lose the attention of the kids. I highly recommend it to my friends!
Transcripts you can read!
I just downloaded this in preparation for my trip and haven’t listened to much yet. I noticed the walking tours include a map you can zoom in now. And they have a full transcript! So if audio isn’t a good method for you, you can still make use of these self-guided tours. And I bet it’ll come in handy to find information I heard before instead of trying to rewind the track.
Great content, terrible app
Like always, the content from Rick is great. And it’s all free.
However, the app was likely built 10+ years ago and has not undergone significant updates since then.
It is buggy, antiquated, and the user experience is really poor. Hopefully there is some $ in the budget to improve it. Maybe Rick needs to include ads to generate revenue to pay for the update?
Anti-Catholic Remarks
I don’t understand why Rick Steves has to ruin such a potentially great product with his anti-Catholic commitments.
