Loss the ability to make routes in the fly - Would give it 5 but the new update really is disappointing
Love the app! Would love it more if I could navigate while I have my phone connected to Apple Carplay.
Roads is not the most intuitive app, but once I figured out the nuances, it is quite powerful. I host two driving tours per year for our UCR region, our current president asked if there was a way to provide participants with voice, turn-by-turn directions. Roads does this fairly well and I will be advocating for its use by tour hosts. I use maps.ie to create custom routes on my phone, then save them as a gpx file. I’ll then open Roads and upload the file, the route creates in seconds, the details of which (Route name, description, share status, etc.) are easily editable. Being able to offer this type of support to our driving tours, which are extremely popular, will reduce the number of wrong turns, making tours more efficient and enjoyable for the participants, not to mention leaders and sweeps. Two improvements I’d like to see- first, if you happen to miss a turn, Roads doesn’t take you back to where you deviated. The app seems to be as lost at this point as you now are. Second, navigating to certain areas are not very intuitive. For example, when opening a Group, you are taken to the page where notes are posted. You have to click the three dots in the upper right, then select About This Group to be taken the main page for the Group. Overall though, great app. Thank you Porsche!
Nice to find new routes, but when configuring new routes, make the time shorter. Like 30 min routes.
Means a lot that Porsche is involving the community to make roads.
I recorded a route, Porsche approved it, and I went to use it and the nav literally drove me in circles. This happened with other routes too. Also the voice prompts are odd where every turn is “reach your destination” and the icon to turn off the voice prompts is literally backward. I love my Porsche but this app is awful. Too bad, it is a great idea.
Cool app for finding good driving spots around the area. Need more users and it would be perfection.
While the auto-generated routes are a cool feature, I’m really struggling to see why user-generated routes were removed from the map tab in the app. Yes, I know I can see “best routes in the region” on the home tab and my favorited routes are still accessible, but I can no longer see what other app users may have created near me which is incredibly frustrating. I’m not sure why user-generated AND auto-generated routes can’t BOTH be visible on the map tab; that would keep everyone happy. Limiting the way we can use the app just feels like bad design. Also, I noticed when I do choose a user-generated route, it no longer takes me directly there and instead tries to make a “fun route” on the way there. While this might work for some users, I would rather just get to the route I wanna check out ASAP and do that route. Once again, options would be nice here. Please consider this feedback; I’ve really enjoyed using this app for about a year and these recent updates are admittedly disappointing.
Please bring back the map function to explore other area’s routes. The auto generated routes are cool but the real gem of this app was giving the users the ability to record their own route and share it with their friends/local backroad enthusiasts. If I could go back to the previous rendition of the app i would in a heartbeat, this new version is not user friendly
I really like the idea of what the app is. I like that it can generate routes to give you a new experience. But like other reviews, it doesn’t allow for deviations from the route if you want to take in the scenic aspects of your route. My biggest frustration is that you can’t change/inverse the direction of your route when you generate it. Even when choosing a starting point, what if I want to start going straight but the app makes me do a U-turn instead. It’s things like this that makes me frustrated and enough to never open the app or outright delete it. Good concept but it needs more work.
