Often the color coding for adjacent formations are so similar its very difficult to tell them apart and in some lighting conditions it’s. He’s consider adding a toggle layer to draw black lines on the contacts as shown on the map.

Changed how I view earth!

Everytime u visit a new place I'm always checking in on rockd. I can now better understand the geology and depositional environments. I use the app to record fossils that I've found.

Just downloaded it. It’s rich with information but with a glitch

jyduchene on

The app is amazing. It’s responsive and seems precise. I’m not a geologist so I’m learning a new language. A rock is not just quartz but of a certain era, location and of a group all of which is deep information which is new to me and I very much enjoy the granular detail o puns intended. However I cannot sign up as the page jumps all over and will not let me go beyond entering my first name and then it jumps from the signup page to the login page. Probably a “feature” of a recent update. Please fix this as I think this app has great features but would like to join in. Would be more stars if I could login. Would also be much better if I could highlight a word or phrase to connect with the web to learn a definition or more information.

Fun App with a Major Flaw

Expediteplanb on

I was told about this app by a friend that’s a geologist. He suggested using it when I’m out in the field for botanical surveys as a easy reference for local formations. Works fantastic when in cellular range, but the downloadable maps for when I’m out of a service area (which is almost every time) absolutely does not work. I’ve essentially had to screen shot the area and reference those to my GPS which is extremely hard. The All Trails app has that function and it works flawlessly. If the creators of this app got it working, I’d happily pay whatever subscription fee they would require to use it. All-in-all, it’s a fun app to use when you’re in cellular service, but do NOT depend on it for real-world applications.

Amazing

Epic

Super underrated app,the features are insane and has maps of everything you could ever want, and the tools are crazy cool and they also went as far to site the works of the maps and articles.

Groundwater section

caviensatia on

Overall, I love this app. It’s such a cool tool to use while I’m out in the field or just scrolling to see what’s going on in the feeds tab. It would be good if the app incorporate a section/tab for groundwater (i.e., aquifer, aquitards, etc). Keep up the good work.

Absolutely Fantastic!

I was going to attempt to creat such an app for profit, but y’all did it better than I would have and offered it for free! Kudos. But I do think my app name was better: GeologiMap You can use it if you want ;-)

Love this app!!

I have learned so much from this app! I have found some awesome rocks and learned so much from the timeline.
