This game was good on custom battles however it would not line up the troops in the ranks that you want as you can in other total war games. On the campaign I could only play as Macedonia and there was no marrying your sons or even adopted sons off to continue the bloodline. There are many things that were enjoyable for me as well though. Some of these things may just be because I didn’t realise certain things or have been fixed so you may want to take this review with a grain of salt

The Rome: Total War series is clearly popular for a reason! I’m an avid fan of ancient history, and this game was on point the whole way through. Historically accurate, yet no less fun because of it, the premise is simple: you have 100 turns to take Alexander’s empire. The time limit means you’ll have to take bigger risks than in other games from the series, but this only heightens the enjoyability, as the payoff to a big gamble can be astounding. The battles happen in real time, and are executed wonderfully, the graphics, while not stunning are perfectly fine, and the tactical elements are well implemented without being overwhelming, so the game remains highly strategic without being to crunchy. Would recommend to any strategy fan.

Worst game I ever played as it consistently cheats. Every time you make progress loads of your cities revolt and within one turn have fully gained and equipped armies. This coincides with you being unable to recruit or hire any troops for over 20 turns. On one occasion Persepolis revolted 6 times in a row despite having exterminated the population each time retaken. Garbage game, do not buy.

This is an easy five stars but it would be better if you added the Greek Cities as a playable faction in custom battles as the mechanic is lacking at best.

I really like this game. The graphics are really good, the zoom is like you are right there! But the historical battles are really hard, because you are always outnumbered. It is impossible to complete the campaign because you are a charged every turn. One time I got -34355! You can’t get troops to replace your killed ones. The best I got was 3 cities and a fort. But I really like the overall.

brilliant just like the original, completed it on easy medium and hard, still trying hard at this time.......
just remember you have to complete the campaign in alexanders life span of 70 years( in game not historical as he died in his 30s)remember your basics.......sound the horn before charging or your general might die.... horse beats archers, swords beat spears..... phalanx beats everything but archers and javlins unless attacked at the rear or overwhelmed.
atact ships in harbour by blockade/ then click on one of your ships and attack the enemy fleet.If besieged by larger force fight in the city square as it gives moral boost( the place your troops retreat to)fight on the walls only if you know you can beat their infantry......

I had the first version of this game on PC and loved it. This version however, makes little to no sense. I play in campaign mode and I’m doing really well. Suddenly the game tells me I’ve failed and that’s it... it’s the end of ‘the game.’ I loaded a previous saved game and continued in a different way only to be told I’d failed again! Game over. At that point I had conquered all the settlements I could see on the map, had a full rating in each of h thy me and they were all making money... fail apparently. 
It seems that to complete or even play this game, you have to have a degree in history with a focus on Alexander The Great as you have to play the game the way he fought his campaign in order to play it. Don’t waste money on this.

This is an amazing game, the battles are true to their time and the definition is amazing, it’s really a perfect simulation of war. However there is a glitch... unfortunately reinforcements don’t spawn properly, they spawn outside the map and you cannot control them! Please fix this... 😅

### ***-- "Controls in battle seem overwhelming and confusing"
I don’t know whether I find it hard to play because I’m totally new to this game genre or not however I find the tutorial, which are videos on YouTube rather lacking and while I am trying to enjoy the game, the fact that there isn’t a physical part of the game to learn by yourself without effecting actual game time. It’s a lot to learn and I just need somewhere where I can do it for myself... I will not remember all of the info given in 10 videos worth by just reading. If this changes I’d hope to give a 5/5
